Extang changed the Solid Fold Design

I've had some issues of late with my Solid Fold. Near the hinge, the panel has warped or bent, and the top aluminum sheet panel started sliding inside the hinge connection when I fold it up.

Besides that, most of the seals had failed and water was pouring in through the hinges.

I've not been real pleased with this cover as it literally fell apart.

Anyhow, I received a new one under warranty and the hinge design has changed. There's no rubber seal rope built into the hinge like the older design. Also the drain holes or channel built into it is completely different.

It came with torn seals so these still need to be replaced but I wonder if I was sold the old design last febuary as Extang told me last January the hinge design was changed to be water tight. I really don't know, I may or may not keep this. I have just fitted it to the truck to see if everything is right. I'll get the seals replaced and if it still leaks, I'll sell it to someone who is more worried about security than being water tight.

If it doesn't leak, I may keep it but I'm still concerned with the build quality.

What's others experience and when was this new hinge design actually done and when did it go on sale???

Thanks.
