Maaco paint

Hey guys,

I just found a fiberglass tonneau cover on craigslist for only $80!!! I've been looking for a while, so I was pretty pleased when that price tag rolled around. That being said, it's the wrong color. It's blue, and I need to get it done in silver. Before I bought it, I called Maaco, and they told me they'd be able to paint it for $150. I stopped by a Ford dealership just to do some price comparison, and they said they can do it for $300, but it's worth it because Maaco's paint jobs are horrible. I was just wondering if anyone here has any experience with Maaco, and if their paint jobs are really as bad as Ford lets on, or if Ford just wants me to buy from them.

Thanks!

cheap tonneau cover, i would think that a Maaco paint job would be okay. i would never let them do my vehicle though - all or part of it.

Ford might be ok because the orange peel will match your truck

With Maaco, I would be concerned about two things. Silver is hard to match as the metal flake must be the same size and I have seen some that does not match. Secondly, I would be afraid of it peeling as they do not sand and prep very well.

Make sure they clear coat it too. They (not Ford) didn't clear mine and the paint went south real quick. The cover takes alot of weather and sun abuse.
