Best Cap for a 2011 Crew
Best Cap for a 2011 Crew
Just got the new truck home this past week and in need of a cap to outfit the rig. 2011 Crewcab with a 6.5 box in need of a good topper. Had a LEER in the past and was considering the ARE. Looking for opinions on this. Would like to spend the least amount to get the best, but don't know if that is realistic or not....?

I personally consider the A.R.E the best product. Every time I purchased a truck I would go see all my options, and always get the A.R.E. In looking at all options now, and the A.R.E is about 8 - 10% more than a Leer, but I will probably get it. It'll be worth the extra money in my opinion.
If you want the best in looks and quality, the ARE Z series. Expensive but nice.
If looks are not that important then all the others are about the same, we equip all of our fleet trucks with toppers now and are mandated to go with low bid so I have just about seen all of the cheap ones.
I have a ARE Z series on order for my 2011 Screw. I looked at both LEER and ARE and ARE won, not only for looks and the reviews i found, but the LEER dealer seemed unprofessional. The cap should be in this week and I'll post pics once it's on.
The dealer you get it from will mean a lot if you have to get any warranty work.

I am also in the market for a cap to replace my now leaky ARC cover. What are the functional benefits of the Z series over the CX?

Functionality - they all pretty much do the same. Looks and design - a ton of difference. The side windows are frame less so they look sleek and flush like those in most SUV's. They don't have the exposed standard black rubber gasket. The back glass is all one piece with a single un-exposed latch.

I am also looking at putting a top on what is soon to be my 2011. I've looked at both the Leer XL and the ARE Z series. Pricing them out with the same options, the ARE is a bit over 25% more than the Leer. And I've checked ARE pricing at two seperate dealers. Is this typical?
I still don't have mine, there were some issues color matching, and the dealer wasn't good about comunicating, so I switched to another dealer. Shuld be here in the next couple weeks. I'll post a few pics when it arrives.
