Auto Advantage and Extang Solid Fold
Auto Advantage and Extang Solid Fold
Many of us tend to be quick to yell about poor service but I thought I'd share several positive experiences I've had with these companies.
Ordered an Extang Solid Fold from Auto Advantage a few weeks back. It arrived damaged. These Solid Fold tonneau covers don't seem to be packed very well; the cushion material had shifted when the only two packing tape strips on a long end broke, with the result that many plastic corner/strap pieces were broken and the cover itself was bent on an edge or two.
Auto Advantage sent a replacement, no hassles, which I received in a week. The second arrived undamaged.
After installation, I noticed a slight gap in the forward seal, where the truck bed side against the cap is a little lower than the bed rails along the sides. I called Extang and they immediately sent out a larger seal, which was pre-cut and precisely replaced the original seal on the cover. As promised, that solved my problem. However, after getting the cover installed and really looking at it in the sunlight, I noticed several fine scratches. Nothing serious enough to warrant a return (and I'm pretty picky), but I called Extang and they immediately sent out not one but two paint pens, which will cover the scratches to my satisfaction plus any future minor damage.
So my request for customer service from Auto Advantage and my two separate requests for customer service from Extang were each met with very prompt, courteous and professional responses. All in all, if you are interested in a tri-fold solid cover, I'm very pleased with what I see so far.
Incidentally, I have hand washed the truck once since installation and no water came in. The real test will be to see what happens with a touchless car wash as the weather turns colder here.
