First time posting a question on this forum, I have a 2009 XLT SCrew and i put the hard cover over the bed and though I believe the clocks up pretty securely my father got the idea of wanting to put an alarm system on the hard cover itself to lock and unlock, now I myself have never heard of this before and don't really see how it's even remotely possible. So I wanted to post the question and see if anyone had ever done this or if simply enough my father is crazy. Thanks in advance to any responses.

 

yes it's possible. I alarmed my toolbox. I'm not sure how different your 09 is from my 05, but the BCM is behind the rear seat, and there is a wire from there to your horn. This module is the computer for your remote door unlock, Notice when you hit lock twice and the horn sounds- obvisouly theres a wire from this module to your horn relay. I tapped into that using the electrical schematics to find the right wire. so now when I lock my tool box, there is a switch on the lock assembly that closes and the other switch (wired in series) that is normally open (waiting for the lid to open) and when the lid opens, this contact makes and sounds the horn- If the lock is locked, if not it's silenced. Not exactly an alarm, but if you try to pry the lid up, the horn sounds while you are trying. This is enough to scare off a theif. I was really going to make a Photo-how to thread on this, but I'm not sure I want information on my toolbox alarm to be all over the internet. good luck.
