yeah, the Ford version is the HD cover but rebadged and sold through Ford Accessory for a lot more. I can't see that video at work, but I might have already, and they show a little plastic handle hanging from the release cable of the Ford cover. That is the only part that I see that the HD cover does not come with. My HD was probably $300 to $400 less than the Ford version.

Supposedly the Ford cover might come with a 3 year warranty while the HD cover comes with a 2 year warranty. The G2 only comes with a 1 year warranty.

Yes, the Ford version does have the three year warranty. But not worth it for the price the dealer charges!

I never got any water with my Undercover though. Wish I still had it (traded off my '06)... I will get another one for my '07.

HD has aluminum panels black powdercoated and the G2 has black textured ABS plastic panels. So the HD panels are slightly stronger and can hold more weight (snow load, stand/sit on the cover, etc.) Both function the same and have the same rails that clamp to the bed.

both are quality covers but I'd recommend spending the extra $125 or so and get the HD cover, especially on a new 09 truck or a truck you plan to keep for a while. as mentioned, the HD is basically the same as the OEM Ford version but $300-$400 cheaper.

There are some recent reports on a Tundra forum of the G2 falling apart as did the G1. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post a link to another forum

Steve thanks for the info. I am a Ford EE so I started to research and found we get a darn good discount on parts. I called the dealer to see if they would match the price we can get thru our employee purchase program and they did! The only downfall is the timing on when they will get it. They said one week but, the employee parts line said 4-6weeks. So I am guessing in between. Final price for Ford OEM cover $801.75 :-) Would have just went with the regular bakflip HD but figured the couple bucks was worth it for the 3yr warranty.

I put the HD on my 09 Screw and it looks awesome. I had drops of water around the tailgate sides after Tropical Storm Danny pissed on it hard. Very nice cover that is more functional than a full cover like the undercover. JMHO

I'm on my 2nd Bakflip cover. I had one on my 97 S-Cab, and now have on on my 07 Super Crew. I had the original on for 5 years. it never separated or leaked and it worked perfectly. I just put the G2 on and I couldn't be happier.
