Do Drop-In's still make bed rust?

2.5 years and 100,000 hard miles, I still show it with the same liner.
Our new commercial which premiers on the PowerBlock in a couple weeks you will actually see a 10# sledge hammer hit right on the corner of a Chevy wheelwell. It bounces harmlessly to the ZeroSkid mat and you can see the wheelwell very clearly... not a mark.
So to answer your question... Yes, it protects from dents better than anything I have ever seen.
To answer the original OP, yes you can still get rust with the old fashioned drop in bed liner. Just like someone else said, your paying 10,15,50k for a truck why be a cheap *** when it comes to taking care of it?
FWIW, I never seen this duraliner stuff in anyone's truck, but in my 97 F150 I had LineX, and after years and years of weather, tossing crap in the back, hauling junk, etc, etc, etc I never had a problem with it, and it still was in great shape. No nicks, no peeled up parts.
I forget the other brand of spray in bedliner besides LineX but it is CRAP stay away. Just spend the extra couple hundred bucks and protect your truck.

Yeah mine had small amoutnts of rust because water will get between the liner and the bed.. After i discovered it the first time I take it out frequently and make sure everything still looks OK. On my other truck there was some rust from the drop in aswell.. Mainly on the top of the wheel wells...

First, the other posts were about DualLiner - a completely new style of bed protection not to be confused with what you mentioned, Duraliner - one of the oldest and biggest names in plastic drop in bedliners.
Second, you mention you forgot "the other brand of spray in liners"... there are dozens of other spray in liners. Some good, some bad, some ugly. So, when you say "it is CRAP", you need to be more specific.
Enjoy the site, we all have a darn good time here!
I had a bedliner in my last truck...Seven and a half years later...no rust!? I went ahead and put another bedliner in my 07 KR. I am not worried about the rust. It may be a factor in saltier, or more humid states. Based on my experience with my last truck, I have not problem with them. Whats odd, is usually I am more inclined to spend the money on the better product. I definitely feel that the sprays are better, just happy with the plastic bedliner.

I had a drop in on my 94. Bought it the first week I had the truck, just got rid of the truck last week. The bedliner held up great for the 14 years. Still good when I got rid of it.
I never removed it, but the bed was in decent shape when I looked up from underneath. Hauled quite a lot of crap in it's days, busted out concrete quite a few times.
Also, I don't smoke inside, so I got in the habit of flicking my butts into the bed, old bedliner handled that very well.
Last week I bought an 07 with the ford bedliner. This one is a lot cheaper than my old one. Cigarette butts melt it, and it seems to be thinner and flimsier. Thinking of removing it and getting a spray on, but I'll probably wait untill I wreck this one, then buy the spray on.
This thread is making me second guess the spray on. Can it hold up to tossing broken concrete onto it? Maybe I'll consider a better drop in, very happy with the last one. The body on my last truck was rusted through, rear springs rusted and broke, the brake lines rusted out(that was the death of her), but the bed was very solid.
