line-x vs. drop in

Will installing a line-x bedliner add any structural strenth to the bed. I have had drop ins in the past and have had good luck with them holding up to heavy items being dropped in the bed. I have and 07 supercrew and have noticed the beds are easily dented. Will a line-x add strength to the bed, or will it still dent just as easily. If so, I will probably go with a good drop in.

Line X or Rhino, any spray in liner, will give a bit when stressed. But if you're gonna be really abusing the bed, like dropping tons of crap from a height of several feet (why?), then yeah, a sturdy drop-in liner may be best.

Actually a good thick bedrug sounds like what you might want.

I'd go for a good quality drop in. Bedrug will give you some more padding, but the drop in lined will stand up to the abuse.

Check out the DualLiner - gives you the dent protection of the drop in and your stuff won't slide around. The sprays all dent pretty easy.

I'm applying LINE-X to 480 Silverados for an excavation company. I was not involved with their decision making but I bet they spent some time discussing their options.

Thumbs up Line-x

If you do go drop in there is a company (3M Maybe) that makes a bed pad.
So that your liner won't scratch your paint....

So go Drop in get the pad... It's a whole 40 bucks! And worth ever bit!

Me I have Line-X and beat the hell out if it! Love it....
had Rino Liner in my last truck wasn't that happy....

Maybe they know their options, maybe they don't. One thing we can agree on is that they understand they need to protect their beds. Depends on what they use their trucks for what liner really makes sense.

Or we can follow the old logic we tried to use on "Mom", "Aw, come on, everybody's doing it."

They are not a small company nor a new company and this is certainly not the first batch of trucks they've purchased. I betcha they gave it some thought before they pulled the trigger.

Wholesale, like auto dealerships. But, still more expensive than a drop-in.

I don't know what you'll be throwing in the bed, but the spray-ins don't keep you from denting the bed. I've always used a drop in with a rubber mat over the top. I take the mat out if I'm hauling dirt, mulch, or anything else I'm shoveling. The slick drop in is great for shoveling on. I haul a fair amount of wood each year and like to stand at the tailgate and throw the wood in straight from the splitter. I've never had a problem with the drop in and doing this. My father in law has an f350 with the spray in. We haul wood together and his bed looks rough. We load both together and his fender wells are beat to death. We've had our trucks around 10 years and have hauled several hundred loads of oak, hickory, and ash. I'm not knocking the spray-in. I just know from personal experience the drop-in holds up better to dropping things in the bed. Good luck with your decision.

For our last company pick ups we used both. I had 6 company trucks we just sold.

The problem we were having with the drop in was that they would ware the paint in the bed if the moved around at all and then any spot where the paint got rub off would rust, plus water would get trapped between the linner and the bed.

The spary in's did not prevent the denting as well.

So if we had a truck that was going to get alot thrown it to it we would add a drop in on top or the spray in. This kept the sides from denting. We had these trucks over five years and when we sold them we removed the old beat up drop in's and kept them for our next trucks and we had great looking beds with no rust at all.
