"More cost effective"? Since when did that ever come into play at the Pentagon? You know, that oddly shaped building that is coating it's walls with product from Rhino in California?

To each their own, I just get all worked up when I hear barrack's lawyers try to spew info. From reading your response I'm guessing you were either an officer or an E3 or below. There really isn't much of a difference..

I personally have neither product and am currently researching to see which I want to go with. As of yet I'm still undecided. I can tell you one thing for CERTAIN, I'm not overly concerned about how either product holds up under a 5lb charge of C4. If my truck has a bomb go off under, next to, above or anywhere NEAR it, the absolute LEAST of my concerns is how well the bedliner held up!!!!

WTF Justi???
Since when is the Pentagon in California?
What the hell are you talking about with barracks lawyers?
I was a Specialist E-5. I had a job I specialized in. What were you besides a smart ***?
I can't tell if you're trying to start a fight or just stepped off the short bus, Could you possibly elaborate?

I agree with you that when your truck blows up the durability of the liner is a moot point. That's why I have been saying all along that the show was paid entertainment with no scientific value.

For what its worth, the explosives they used didn't look like C-4. It was probably ANFO packed in a card board tube. ANFO is a commercial grade explosive that is readily available to just about anyone with a license and used heavily in mining operations. Not as powerful as C-4 which is generally reserved for the military and bastard terrorist groups.

Rhino Linings is a California based company. And if you actually know what you're talking about then cool, accept my apoligy. But reading your post it came across as someone who felt it was important to seem as if they knew what they were talking about when they didn't. One point of contention, and this is nitpicking perhaps.. There rank of specialist has been E-4, not E-5 at LEAST for the last 20 years. 1955 is the last year I can verify it was valid.

I just don't understand why it matters. Each company makes decent products and compete for market share. Most of the bantering is by people who own X and try to justify it by putting down Y. Each person should buy what they want. Now, at the same time, I heavily judge folks that buy import vehicles, so perhaps it's me that's the biggest hypocrite of all.

The best way to do it would be to bolt both beds down to a frame (that won't deform or get blown away) to simulate the truck height. That way you could get the heights exactly the same and it couldn't pick up the back of the truck to direct the explosion out from under the bed. It isn't testing the cab of the truck, or the frame, axle or anything else, just the bed/liner so everything else is a unneeded variable that doesn't even need to be there. The beds should also be new, not old beds from a very rust prone model of truck.

I just watched for the explosions, it was cool how the hood just floated up nice and level from the truck, I think it was the blue one. After they got done blowing up the trucks I surfed elsewhere.

A LINE-X segment will be on Speed Channel this Saturday night at 10:00 PM EST and repeated on Sunday at 12:00 PM EST. No explosions, just an interview with John Wesley, Pres of LINE-X, at the SEMA show.

50,000 bullet proof plates are coated with LINE-X and are used by the military in Iraq. This soldier was shot in the back by a sniper and the plate saved his life. He is presenting the plate as a plaque to D. Rumsfeld. No, the LINE-X does not make it bullet proof, it does keep the interior dry and helps the plate maintain its integrity.

Justi, I was a Specialist, My DD214 and my Honorable discharge papers both say E-5 which is what I was paid as a Specialist not as a Sargent. I was done in '92.

On the Rhino debate, the reason you don't understand why it matters is because, well....... it doesn't matter. The whole argument is about the show doing a staged experiment that was B.S. and trying to push it as fact. Rhino is a good liner, I didn't understand why they lowered themselves to the drama of a T.V. infomercial. On the other hand look how much they are getting discussed now! Guess the advertising worked. Time to give this one a rest and call it a night

I agree, I also am critical about foreign car owners but then I ride a Yamaha motorcycle. Go figure

Don't feel too bad, I ride a Kawasaki ATV.

I don't doubt the spec as an E5, just find it suprising it was as late as '92. I didn't go in until '91 but for certain only Sgts were E-5 at that point. And more to task, I agree, it's all show.

Now if I could just decide between Rhino, Line-X or drop in. I'll likely end up with drop in as it's the only option that lets me change my mind later.

Have a good night man..
