I just bought a new work truck and am debating what bed liner to go with, if any. I've read as much as I can about all the pros and cons and still not sure. This truck I will hopefully keep 10-15 years. 95% of the time all I will be hauling in it will be a commercial mower and 2 loading ramps. 10 times a year I may be hauling some mulch, leaves, dirt. I need to be able to easily slide a shovel on the bed floor to scoop out mulch. I do not tie down my mower while hauling, so I need skid resistant. Also the front wheels of the mower often knock against the front of the bed, which would probably dent the truck, as its dented my old truck, even through the hard bed liner. I'm not sure if I should worry about small dents and scratches in the bed since this will be a work truck and kept for hopefully 15 years. Would bed condition be that big of a factor when selling a 15 year old truck? I'm just not sure if it is worth spending $300 for a liner, or if I should just go with a bed mat and not sweat the small dents and scratches that will occur from loading and unloading mower hundreds of times a year.
Any opinions? I'm a frugal guy, so I'm trying to look at it from a $$ standpoint, and what would would make most sense $ wise.

 

I would just go with a rubber bed mat if you aren't too worried about small dents & scratches in the sides of the bed. It is easy to pull out and hose down the bed for cleaning too. And they are cheap.

 

I was in you same position about a month ago. I went the dual liner and havent looked back since. It will work well for you mower but im not sure about the other things that you would like to load b/c I dont have a reason to load those things in my truck but I think you will have problem.

 

I picked up a new floor jack yesterday (Cornwell Blue Monster, SWEET!) in my show truck. It's on steel wheels (duh), so I expected it to want to roll. The wheels actually pressed into the mat enough to let the chassis sit down on the mat, it never moved.

Shovelling won't hurt the mat or the sidewalls of the DualLiner.

Resale on any vehicle is based on condition. If you keep the rest of the truck in great condition, why settle for a messed up bed. The DualLiner will protect your truck against the tractor - it won't slide and damage the front of the bed.

For your use sounds like the DualLiner would be the way to go. It will protect the bed from the mower and be skid resitent and then you can pull the bed mat out to clean out the excess mulch after you have shoveled most of it out.
