Do they All Leak???

I added a Truxedo Lo Pro on my truck and I love the way it looks, but I hate how much water gets inside the bed with it. It is a really nice cover, but it leaks at the four corners and it drives me nuts.

Do all Brands of Low Profile Tonneau Covers let water in like this or is the Lo Pro the worst?

I never had leaking problems with my Truxport (over the rail) Tonneau on my 99.

I think it is a problem of the low profile types.

I had an Extang on my 98 flareside and it almost never leaked. Was a real pain to get on and off though, especially in the cold.

Got my '04 flareside a few months ago and put the LoPro on it. I've had the same problem, leaking at the corners. Weekend before last I applied some clear silicone RTV in the corners around those tube-seals at the ends of the rails. Seems to have helped, but I need to check more after a heavy rain to tell if there are any more leaks. There's still a big gap between the tailgate and the sides, just because of the way the truck is made. I'm not sure how I can prevent water from getting in there. I've installed a tailgate seal, but it doesn't really make a great seal because of the way the tailgate body contours are made. It also can't cover the top of the tailgate. I'm still thinking about how to seal it up really well...

That is where the majority of the water is getting in. Please let me know how the silicone is working up front as I was thinking about doing the same thing.

Tonneau's that cover the entire rail as opposed to those that only attach to the sides of the rails tend to be more waterproof, such as an Undercover.

I almost went with undercover. But it's a solid cover. If you have a big load, you need to take it off and leave it somewhere. That turns into a real pain for me. I need to be able to open up the bed on the fly without worrying about what I'm doing to do with the cover.

I wanted to get a Bakflip, which seems to offer the best of both worlds. It's a hard cover, but opens up in sections so it can stay with the truck. It's also quite waterproof from what I've heard. But they don't make one for Flareside trucks. That's how I wound up with the LoPro.

I have a lund and it is a great cover, but mine only leaks where the roll up straps are other then that it is pretty much water tight
