Question Drop-in liner prep

I'm saving to get a drop-in liner on my 2001 4X4 Srew, Lariat..... the previous owner must have hauled gravel for a living, bc the bed is scratched pretty good... what do you guys suggest I do to prep the bed for a drop-in? (btw, if you're a spray-in fan... don't yell at me for wanting a drop-in.... I just hate the spray-in ones) Oh, also.... side question.... can I replace my bed bolts cheaply and easily??? I want to ensure no rust (grim reaper) sets in.... Thanks,

-biz

Get a can or two of the paint on liner from Walmart... clean your bed, change out the bolts, and then apply a thin coat. It applies just like paint... so it will be just like repainting your bed, but just a little bit more tougher.

The cost is probably a little bit more expensive, but when you drop in that liner, you won't have any worrys or regrets.

After you fix up your bed get one of these before you put in your bedliner. http://paintsaver.net/default.htm It may help prevent the chafing that dropins cause. After less than a year my dropin had chafed the paint off of the ridge tops in my bed. I repaired the damage and replaced my dropin with the DualLiner. That way I can pull the mat out and clean from time to time.

With anything (even a roll on liner) you need paint on the bed for starters. Anywhere that you are rubbed through the galvanizing, make sure to clean prep and apply paint. Then a paintsaver (BedRug makes something similar) to protect the paint from the drop in makes sense.

Instead of the paintsaver pad go with the Bedrug bed gasket. It covers the entire bed surface instead of just the bottom. It is a new product from bedrug and will be what I sell here from now on instead of the paintsaver pad. These go for $49.00 if you need I can hook you up with one.
