Lorado Roll Up Cover Leaking

Hey guys,

I have a Lorado roll up cover that was installed at a local truck shop. I love this cover but I've had a few leaking problems with it. I've had it back 4 times...lol for it leaking up at the front. They replaced the entire front seal and it did OK for awhile. It does not leak on the majority of the front but does leak at the sides. If I have it closed I can see a slight bit of daylight.

Anyhow, my question is is there some kind of seal I can buy at a supply store that I can put in addition to the one that comes with the cover to help stop water from getting inside? I don't care if I have to put something permanent on the inside to get it to stop.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks.

I have the same cover and had it installed a few weeks ago. I get the same leakage in the corners and I can see day light as well. I know that there is a rear tailgate seal gasket out there. I haven't looked into it or modifying it for the front corners. Do I say RTV, perhaps? Ugh

Exclamation No Leaks for me

I would try a clear silicone caulking, like what you would use for your house windows. I have had my Lorado cover for about a year now and I haven't had any leaks and I installed it myself so I was expecting a inexperience error, but I guess taking my time paid off, you just have to clean the surface really well with rubbing alcohol and a clean rag. I also used the Trail Seal for the tailgate area and did some pretty slick cutting to get it to go all the way to the top of the tailgate. Sorry to hear of your problems, and I hope they can get it works out for you.

Make sure that the flap at the cab is folded in toward the inside of the bed and not left hanging out, brother had leaking problem because of that.
Also how much water/moisture are we talking about, a lot?

Thanks for the tips. The flap near the cab is out. I had it installed by my LineX dealer when I had the bed sprayed... I'll look into taking it off and re-installing with the flap on the inside. I was thinking about putting the tailgate seal on. There wasn't much water leaking in... but I would rather have the least amount as possible. Thanks again.

Yeah the flap has to be flapped inside, not out, as an installer they should have known that, you would think it would work better w/ it out but the directions say to make sure it is in. Also when you take it off make sure that they put the seal on the rite way. The seal is "L" shaped and the "L" should be facing the cab w/ the flat back side of the "L" facing the tailgate and flush w/ the inside edge of the bed rail and run-past the sides a little.

I'll look into it when I remove the cover. Do you recall if your tailgate seal matches the "L" seal profile of the bedcover? The reason I ask, is that if I have to rip off the incorrectly installed "L" seal, I will need to replace it with something. First thought was buying two kits of the tailgate seal (one for the tailgate the other for the front.) If that makes sense. Thanks again for your help.

The TrailSeal is more shaped like a door seal O> kind of like that w/ the adhesive on the triangle I'll take some pics of my trail seal installed and some of the extra seal I have. But as for the "L" shaped seal I believe you can get it at Lowes or Home Depot.
I'll post those pics after work but no problem, that is what I enjoy about this site getting help from people and providing help to people as well.

I have installed a bunch of these covers and here are my tips. On the front you can use like a bulb style rubber seal w/ double sided tape on the bottom. If you have a spray in liner, especially Line-x, you will not be able to get this seal to stick. On the ends I use a butyl putty tape. This will provide a better seal.

On the other hand, I know the instructions always say to leave the seal to the inside of the bed. I will say that every cover that I ever installed that way came back with water leaking. After learning this, I pull that seal out and have had only a couple occassions with leaking.

Hope that helps.

BShipley-

Thx. for the photos. Looking my pickup, it appears that the "L" shaped gasket is installed in the correct direction. But, there are small gaps between the "cab" and bed side "rail". I'll probably take the whole thing off and re-install with new gaskets. Thanks for the heads up on the Lowes/HD for the "L" shaped one. I was at a Theisen's (home/farm/auto) store and they had a Lund tailgate gasket. It had a "d" profile, but I think I'll go for the Access version. Thanks again for your help.
