BedRug or Line-X
BedRug or Line-X
Looking for an opinion here.
I have been contemplating either getting line-x or a bed rug. I don't put a lot in the bed of the truck, and when I do its normally very sensitive equipment.
If I go with a line-x, I'm not going to worry about a tonneau cover. If I go with a bed rug, I will probably install a sliding tonneau cover or something similar, but not one of the fiberglass covers.
So for you guys that have a bed rug, what are some of the warnings I should be aware of and how do you like it versus a bed liner? Is there any of the major bedrugs in black? All I can find is gray/charcoal.
I know how most of you feel about your line-x's by reading some of the other posts. How do you like them in the long term and what type of maintenance have you had to do on them, if any?

Bed Rug
I too am thinking of installing the Bed Rug, anyone have one? Right now I have the Lincoln drop in liner, and things slide on it like ice. I also have retraxx/roll-top so I'm not worried about covering the Bed Rug. Just would like to know any pro's & con's. Thanks.
Well I personally have the Line-X and have used trucks that have a bedrug as well. If you get a bedrug, you will most definately want to get a cover. My buddy had one here in NH and leaves and twigs would get caught up in the rug. He finally ripped it out and put in a Line-X. The bedrug is also a pain to clean if you ever get dirt or mud or anything like that in the bedrug. The Line-X, I can say first hand, is the best decision I have made in regards to the bed of my truck. I have thrown half cords of wood, gravel, loom, peatmoss, dirtbikes, motorcycles, etc. in it and all you have to do is hose it out at the end of the day. If at any point in time you get a chip or anything in the liner, bring it back to the shop and the fix is free. I have yet to have any chipping and I've put it to the test more than a few times.

I like the looks over the Line-X, and since its covered, it becomes more of a "trunk." With the cover, my 5.5 bed is reduced to 4.5, but again the most I've put back there is a floor jack, air pump, luggage, golf bags, and fishing poles.

the more and more I think about it, I think I'm going rug also. the most i've ever put in the bed was when I moved across town. Other than that I put in computers, servers, network gear, etc...
thanks for the thoughts.
thanks for the thoughts.
I looked at the Line-x but where I live there were 3 places that did it and it was $600 so I went with the bedrug. Great product but my wife decided to put hay bails on the rug and a lot got stuck in the carpet nap. Took about an hour to get most of it out by hand and vacuum. Besides that it is great, easy to clean with a hose or vacuum and still looks good.
Here's the cheapest place I know of right now. http://www.ultimatetruck.com/product...33&model=20478 for three Franklins.
I bought mine from http://www.truckaccessorizer.com/store/bedrug.htm for under three bills, but their price has gone up to three Franklins and a Jackson, as seems others have also.

so how many of you, that got the bed rug, installed it yourself? I looked at one's instructions and it seemed pretty involved. If my meds are working, I can have the patience to do it. But if they aren't, because I forgot, simple washes can be rather daunting. I want to make sure its done right. So how long did it take some of you to install yours, and if you had someone else do it, how much did they charge?
