about sprayin liners
Sorry, I meant removing the plastic caps and having line-x sprayed in their place. I've seen this a few times and thought it looked decent enough. But I wasn't sure if there's any extra cost in doing that, or if there are any downsides to that.
The rail's shape is not very good looking and there are rather large holes in the rail. We can cover up small holes with metal tape, but large holes are harder to deal with. We prefer not to mess with it although we have done it once.
bedliner
I took black satin epoxy paint and painted the bed bolts after I had a reflex liner installed. This I hope keeps the bed bolts and tailgate bolts from rusting. My truck is only a month old , so this was pretty easy.

The rail caps are normally masked off on fords. I myself have had 2-3 customers ask to remove the rails caps and spray over the rail. Now you may ask what about the holes that the rail cap plugs go into? Just another line-x trick
I got a Line-X seven years ago and they didn't spray the tailgate bolts but they did spray the bed bolts.
This past weekend I noticed the two bolts nearer the cab have peeled back like the top of a muffin, a perfect circle exposing the bolt head.
Only thing I can figure is my drain holes clog often and over the years standing water occasionly submerged them.
So now, I'm 67% bolts sprayed and 33% bolts not sprayed.

More than likely the bolts were not sanded. I had this problem on my mud toyota. I sprayed/prepped it myself and did not sand my bed bolts. One day i was throwin rocks and woods in the back and it knocked the hat off the bolt head.
I have sprayed Speedliner on the rail tops and tail gate tops. It turned out very nice looking. Of course this was on older trucks that didnt come with the plastic rail caps. The trick is taking your time and doing a good job masking everything just right and removing the tape carefully when your done. So far the Speedliner has been holding up well too.
