If you would have gotten the liner from your car dealer chances are they would have marked it up and made more money off you. I do alot of work for dealerships and they are in the money making busy, make no mistake about it. They might have paid $375 for the liner and billed you $575 with a $100 going to the salesman and $100 going to the dealership. I think your salesman might have saved you some money.

I just got done doing the tub of my Jeep over the 4th of July holiday break with a kit I got at Checker's (auto parts store) called Herculiner. It's a pretty good kit, but with all of the intricacies of the Jeep tub it took me the better part of 2 days! With the removing of parts, taping, sanding, cleaning, applying the liner, waiting for 1st coat to dry, then applying second coat. It was an ordeal...but I only spent about $100 for all the materials (including sandpaper, chemical cleaner, brushes, tape, etc). I'm sure the bed of a truck would be a MUCH easier job to do.

Overall I think it turned out quite nicely (I'll get some pics soon), but I don't plan on hauling much heavy equipment in my Jeep. I just wanted something to protect the paint/keep it from rusting anymore. It does look nice, but I know that in time it IS going to fade as I've seen other Jeeps that have had this done. But for $100 and a good weekend project, it's tough to beat.

With that being said, I'm saving my money for a Line-X to go in the bed of my 06 SCrew. For a $30,000+ vehicle, I want something that is durable, long lasting, and has a WARRANTY!

Hope this helps. And if anyone wants pics, let me know and I can send some.

Dealers must get some break, my salesman said when I bought mine that he would do it for 300.00 cash. I took my truck back about a month later and gave him the cash and got it done that day from Line-X. I did have to take it back to get a little overspray taken off the roof, and they did not have a problem doing it no charge.

time

I have seen posts that say my liner took 45min to spray and yours took 6 hours that is pointless. maybe the guy spraying it played cribage for over 5 hrs. I dont know but to sand, clean with acetone, mask, get the equipment ready, spray the liner, and unmask the truck, wash it up so it is ready for the customer would take about 4-5 hours with rhino lining. keep in mind only 30min of that was spray time. but I would imagine the prep and cleanup for all liners is the same

bed liner prices

When my wife gave me my o6 F150 for christmas I got my Line-x bed liner for half price. If the sales people are telling you they can't give you a break on price they are not being completly up front. They may not to but they can.

Hell, I almost got my Line-x for free. The sales lady was able to get taken from for half price.

My dealer somewhat tried the same game with me, but I was asking to get the liner for free haha. I eventually got him to agree to calling the Line-X dealer in advance and setting up an appointment to get an under-rail shortbed Line-X job for $325+ tax.

Now that I see these new prices- I'm very happy about that

i am gonna go with line-x and my autoshop quoted me 420 underrail for a 6.5' bed. also they had a $20 coupon online so it will be $400 before tax. only bad thing is the closet linex is 45 minutes away, but i have no choice because the local rhino dealer is a jerk and does bad work

I ended up getting an Ameraguard liner. looks just like a line-x and is a lot cheaper. I ended up getting a light duty under the rail. Not as thick as a line-x, but I don't use my truck for work and it has been holding up great. I guess the heavy duty is the same as line-x

I did the Duplicolor DIY bedliner. That was about a year ago, and it still looks great (started off shiny, now is flat black--the way I like it). I'd say though that it's worth getting it sprayed. My Dad got his Rhinolined, and it is crazy thick. Mine was about 1/4 the price, but about 1/5 the thickness, and does not come with a warranty or the fancy Rhino Linings Badge or Line-X badge. Overall, I'm pleased with it, but it took a lot of time, whereas I could have saved time, and gotten a much more durable liner for just a little more. Each gallon of DIY was aroun $40-$50, plus the roller kit ($20). 2 gallons plus roller kit = $100 to $120
Rhino lining/Line-X = 450 approx.

I guess it depends on what you're going to be doing. If it's for looks, DIY. If you're hauling stuff and really need the protection of a bedliner, have it done.

LINE-X puts about 4.5 gallons in a truck.

Typically, the DIY stuff like Duplicolor, Herculiner, etc. will last about one year if applied correctly and if exposed to the sun.

There is no way I was going to put one of the DIY bedliners in. The light duty liner I got is way thinker than the DIY stuff, and looks much better. I ended up paying $345.00, which is cheap in this area since Line-X wanted $495. I'm not sure how many gallons was applied to my truck.

Exclamation

I had my Rhino Liner sprayed in today. I bought the truck last week and had the bed liner included in the price of the vehicle. The installer (not the dealer) billed the dealership $390 for it. The truck has a 5.5' bed. It would have been an additional $50 for over the rails, and another $60 for color matching. I opted for under the rails and basic black. Since the dealer had charged me $500 for it, I guess they made $110 off me.

I'm not sure how many gallons were applied, but they put it in about 1/4" thick.

dot dot: Wow, that's REALLY expensive for a 100% polyurethane liner, in a 5.5 ft. bed to boot.
