My truck had a LineX spray in bedliner when i got it. Ive had the truck for a while and the liner is starting to look dirty and worn. What product do you guys know of that will make it look like new again?

 

maybe spray paint?....I use a can of rust paint to touch up my box on my truck, Mines black, with out a spary in liner...I really went cheap..Tremclad work's great...I'm sure a plastic type spray paint would work.

 

There is no real cure for the worn part of your bedliner (except having it redone), it's part of having a spray-in liner. There are several revitalizers, Just Once (applied quarterly) and Line-X has some coatings they can spray on it. Find a post from Truckgasm and drop him a line, he's here frequently and seems to be extremely knowledgable about all Line-X fixes, he has his own shop.

Personally, I would put a DualComp liner over it... but then I work for DualComp! Although, you wouldn't be the first one we've sold to cover a messed up spray-in.

Bill01, here's what to do:

1. Clean the liner with automobile soap and water. Use a stiff brush and scrub the heck out of it. You'll be pleasantly surprised how good it will look at this point.
2. Use an "Armorall" type product on it. We prefer Just Once (www.justonce.com) because it contains no oils or solvents.
3. You can take it to a LINE-X dealer and they can apply one of several products (Ultra Shield, Nason, or Xtra) that will permanently keep the liner black and shiny. Depending on what product you choose, price should be as low as $50.

My friend is the local Line-X retailer here. Per his advice the best thing you can use is a stiff bristled brush and any good quality cleaning agent. This will remove the ground in dirt, and with some elbow grease will remove the oxidation from your liner. Line-X sells a cleaner, but read what the owner says..... Any cleaner.

 

Yep, I heard "cleaners" such as MopNGlo to carburetor cleaner, but those I've never tried.

 

My dealer told me, and it works, give it a good scrubbing and then put some Armor All on it. Looks good afterwards. You can get the "dull" finish armor all too so it won't look wet, just nice and black.

 

My Line-X guy told me not to use any Armor All products. He told me that while they will temp. improve the apperance if faded, the drying agents will leave it looking worse the orginal condition after a while. Who knows though....maybe he just has his own issues with Armom All

 

The problem with Armor-all type products in the short-term is that it makes the liner really slippery. You bought a Line-X so stuff doesn't slide around right?? why ruin the properties with Armor-all.

Now, JustOnce works great!! It won't bring back the as-new shine of a 5 yr old liner, but it will greatly improve the appearance. And best of all, no slipperiness!!

We are having good success with the enduragloss/ultrashield type products. They are easily applied in-shop, and can even be applied by the DIY guy with a sponge and rubber glove.

oh, and I have a stack of used drop-ins at the shop I'm hoping someone would steal....

Ha! That picture is great, that looks just like the pile my installer showed me. He told me that he has a guy that comes through every few months and picks them up and takes them down south to sell.
