Bed rail caps sprayed

I know TxTonka had everything grey on his truck sprayed with line-x but I believe he said he had connections with his local company. Has anyone had line-x spray their bed caps? LIne-x told me they wont spray the rails because of the bed rolling down or something like that. But when they take the caps off to spray the bed can they prep and spray the caps?

I had bed caps sprayed on a 01 chevy that had been Rhino sprayed.I got some bed caps from JC Whitney and the tape came loose rubed the paint off.On fords the bed caps have clips that keep it on,so there are the holes in the top of the bed rail.A good sprayer can do the job,on Rhino's web site they spray all kinds of stuff with Rhino. Also I've seen with the bottom of pickups are sprayed now and that has a roll there the same as the bed if not more. Find a dealer that's been doing it for a while and knows what he's doing.Go Rhino if line-x can't do the job.You will have to plug up the holes before spraying. Also show them how far down you want it to go on the side,my chevy looked good with the spray caps.Good luck

The rails have about 20 holes in them on each side. The holes are rectangular and about 1.25" long and about 3/8" wide. Small holes can be covered up with aluminum tape, which is expensive at about $40/roll. But, these holes are too large for a spray on liner.

I think I might be confusing everybody. I am talking about the plastic on the top of the bed which i thought were called the bed rail caps that came from the factory on i believe every f-150 with a drop-in bedliner

Bedrail Blunders

Happy Holidays to everyone,

All Ford “F” series after 96 or 97 come with rail caps, and yes they can be sprayed with Line-X if prepped correctly. My best advice to you is that you call your local Line-X dealer and ask what they would do. If you need new bedrails they are a lot cheaper to buy than have sprayed I can tell you that, they are around $32.00 from Ford. chillindude010 you would be looking at $75 to have the plastic caps sprayed over.

I've tried aluminum tape on the holes on a Tundra. The customer wanted it done no matter what. It did not turn out so good. I might try again with a thicker mil tape. I think what happens is that the tape expands due to the heat and ends up sagging.
