access cover
access cover
ive been wanting to get a bedliner and bed cover for a while. after looking on here, it looks like line-x is the best liner. but for the bed cover ive been leaning towards an access cover. my dad had an A.R.E. on his lightning and platinum, they look really nice, but they limit how much you can haul with you. i plan on getting a 4 wheeler in the near future so i want something thats going to be retractable or roll-able. so how is the access cover compared to other soft covers? is it as durable as the website says? does it leak? comments appreciated, thanks!

After researching covers, I just had the access cover installed on my 2001 Supercrew. It looks great, however, I do have a concern. I have noticed on the front edges of the cover there is a small gap that looks like water could leak in at. I am waiting for some rain to find out if it is going to leak, however, I have a bad feeling that it is going to. I had it dealer installed and they have assured me that the cover was installed correctly (of course they are not going to say if they did it wrong). I don't know if this common or not since I have not seen any close up pictures of the front edges on an 2001 F150 Supercrew.
I too have an access cover on my new truck. I liked the looks of it and the easy tension control. It does have two small gaps in the front near the cab where the straps go between the cover frame and truck bed.
Also concerned about water leaking, I brought it back to the place where I bought it and had it installed. They looked at it and advised it was mounted properly. However, they did say they would put a seal on the front which would prevent any water. I had them wait to do that since I'm having Line-X applied shortly.
I've had my truck since August and got the cover the first day I had it. Even with the small spaces at the front I have not noticed any water in the bed of my truck.
Just for further info, on my previous truck I had a Truxedo cover. this is also a very good cover that treated me well and I had no issues with. Like I said I went with Access because of the looks and my belief that the cover appears tighter.
Truxedo makes a new cover I believe it called the Lo Pro that is supposed to be very nice. If you perform a search you should be able to get all sorts of info on it. There are a number of guys that have it on their trucks here. Good luck

im not really worried about water leaking in. im just tired of leaves, dirt, trash, and people throwing crap back there. i like to have my back window open and if anything is in my bed it comes flying back into the cab.
I'm close to pulling the trigger on an Access cover for my 04, I've got a quote for $499 installed. I like the fact that the Access has tension control, locks and I've seen a demo and it rolls up and down nice. I would love a Pace Edwards Jack Rabbit but I can't handle the $1000+ cost of that.

this has been bought up before. if you go with a retractable
