Post Quick BedRug Question

Hey guys, I was wondering what type of backing the BedRug has? Will it mar the bed like a regular plastics liner? The reason why I'm looking at spray liners is because the plastic ones rub the paint and trap water.

I really want to do a Rhino spray in liner, but I like the looks of the BedRug. I guess it would be kinda silly to do the Rhino and then install a BedRug!

Thanks,
Steve

Great, so it should never rub or damage the paint underneath?

I can't see the BedRug marring a stick of butter, much less the bed of our pickups!

kclm7.....I just ordered my Bedrug and top by ARE. I agree, it does not make much sense to do a spray on with a rug and top. You can always have it done later should the use of the truck change for any reason.

I've been searching the Internet for the best Bedrug deal, but I haven't found much. The JC Whitney catalog that arrived a couple of days ago has the Bedrug for $349.95 less 15% + $22.35 freight = $319.81 net. Anyone seen anything better than that?

------------------
Ordered 1/19/01; TPW 3/12/01; 2001 F150 4X4; 5.4; bright red; super cab; short bed; Lariat; captains chairs; class III tow package; electric shift-on-the-fly; 3.55 LSD; sliding rear window

Considering: ARE Z cap; Westin Platinum stainless nerf bars; Makik stainless brush guard; PIAA 80XT's and super white bulbs; Bedrug

Link, I think that looks like about the best price I've seen.

I am also considering a liner for my new 01 Lightning but can't make up my mind on which type. They all have their strengths and weaknessess. For those of you who've installed the Bedrug, would you please be so kind as to explain the installation of the velcro? What I'm asking is do you have to glue or paste a piece of velcro on the bed at specific places? And how about the tailgate, how is that installed?
Do you feel that the Bedrug would stay in place if you had to slide say a refrigerator into and out of the bed?
Thanks!

Hey Silver01!

I've got the BedRug and I love it!

The velcro comes in two long strips (for the bottom) and a bunch of short (2-3-inch) strips for the sides. The strips have a strong adhesive that bonds it to the side of the truck. You have to clean the areas for the adhesive with alcohol. Easy installation. Easy removal of the rug for cleaning too...not that you have to always remove it to clean it. I haven't taken mine out yet after three months.

As far as hauling, I don't see any problem with luging frigs around. If I have any worries (like when I haul wood or gravel), I lay down a tarp.

Thumbs up here!

This probably sounds nuts but I hope I get my car sold so I can buy a Bedrug! I'll order the truck so I'll probably have the bedrug months before the truck....

Cool

ragarm, thanks for the info. I ordered my bedrug Saturday. Did you wash and wax your bed before installing the bedrug? Also read a post (can't remember where) that someone suggested getting additional velcro strips from HomeDepot to make the fit/finish look better. Any thoughts on this?
Thanks!

Wink

Didn't wax my bed beforehand, but did wash it. As I said, you can always take the rug out for washing and waxing if you'd like.

There seemed to be plenty of velcro to hold my rug in, but I'm sure additional stuff wouldn't hurt either!

Good luck!
