Having had bedliners in 2 truck a few years back, I did notice that vibration of the bedliner on the bed floor seemed to cause damage that it was meant to prevent in the 1st place in the way of wearing the paint off.

I thought I read recently of a mat or some kind of cushioning you can put down prior to installing a bedliner that would prevent damage to the paint, but I can't seem to locate the information anywhere now.

Anyone have a idea of what I'm looking for and can you point me in the right direction??
It'll be going into a supercrew whenever it decides to show up at the dealership.

 

I had a pad between the bedliner and the bed in my Ranger. It was called a "Paintsaver Pad", I got it from the same RV place I bought the liner. It was $35.00 and was a thin mat of closed cell foam. The box had a picture of a German Shepard guarding the back of a truck on it. After 135K miles the bed had only a coupla of spots near the rear were the paint was scuffed.

It was Rick's RV at I-55 and Rt. 52 in Joliet, IL.

Just came back from the first camping trip with Nick -- and althought the rubber bed-liner works great -- we managed to scrape and scratch the P|$$ out of everything else.

Thinking of the bedliner from the Ford dealer -- any comments?

I'll be sure to use that paintsaver -- thanks for offering that gem.

Hey, I wonder if the stuff they put under Pergo laminate flooring would work? It's a thin sheet of encapsulated foam.

Sounds like it's the same stuff. The pad is just grey closed cell foam, thin, cut to fit the bed. The pads were $35 not sure what the Pergo stuff would run.

Just ordered mine...pretty cheap insurance if you ask me. I have been looking at some used F150's lately and have noticed that in only a couple of years of wear from the bedliner can really destroy the paint. I have been looking for something like this for a while...don't I feel stupid now. I should have asked the board a long time ago...What was I thinking?
