Thumbs up LINE-X ~ swear by it!

Here's my LINE-X story! I had my boat out of the water to apply some bottom paint. During my stay at local boat yard, a combine or trash collector boat pulled up beside me. It was a stainless steel, flat bottom boat. It did not have any paint on the bottom and the owner was complaining about rust; go figure! Anyway.....he started telling me about this stuff called LINE-X. He was an engineer type person and really seemed to know what he was talking about; convinced me anyhow! Long story short....he coated his boat and I kept in contact with him to see how it was working out. To date, he has coated all seven of his boats, his truck, trailers of various types, etc...

Well, here is my back ground; I have been in the corporate smell of things for over fifteen years. The timing was such that I needed a change. So I started investigating in LINE-X. I visited shops, I toured the corporate facility, I asked constuction people if they have heard of it, you name it!! From the boat guy to Joe Construction, I have never been more impressed with a product. One of the local dealers has even proposed to coat the water rides and the new Disney water park. This stuff is unbelievable.

If you haven't guess it, I quit my 15 year job...and bought a LINE-X dealership. I am spraying everything from swingsets to boat trailers and of course, truck beds! Yes...it is more spendy than that stuff you get in a can (the one that the lid doesn't come off ). But this is one of those products that I can honestly say, "YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!" I recently sprayed a fleet of tow trucks. The customer requested that the thickness be at least 1/4 inch! Now how long would you be there if you were trying to get that thickness out of a can? From start to finish, the average truck takes two hours. The LINE-X itself dries in 5 seconds; no drips or sags like the competitor! The preparation is what take the time; what you don't cover will inevitably get sprayed. ANYWAY....that's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Oh, one other thing....if your ever in the Southern California Area and want you truck sprayed, or if you just need to ask questions, give me a call:

South Bay LINE-X

Thanks, Jeff

OK line-x man... here is my question for you then. As you can see from my signature I have one of these liners and I agree that the texture is fabulous, however it has already lost most of its shine in less than a year. I took it buy the local line-x dealer and they said that it was normal. Normal for several hundred dollars to prep and spay a bed it should stay looking nice for a couple of years. My question to you is other than covering it up with a topper what can I put on this liner to make it shine without making it slippery.

Thanks

Hi TJ....
Sorry to hear about your fading problem! The fact of the matter is that even the drop-in liners will fade (and warp, and crack, and hold moisture, etc...).

But there is a solution! LINE-X does make a conditioner that can be applied to your liner to bring back it's luster. If you contact your local dealer, I'm sure he can hook you up with some!

Looking at the date your liner was sprayed, it makes me wonder if there is indeed something wrong. My liner has been in the back of my truck for over 13 months...and still has a new look to it. I also live one block from the beach; so it gets the salt and sun everyday! Try the conditioner...I think you'll be pleasantly surprised!

If you are still continuing to have fading problems, you might ask your dealer about shooting a UVX top coat onto your existing liner. This chemical seems to holds up to the elements!

Hi Bulldog,
Haven't undercoated a full size truck but have done several Jeep tubs....infact doing one right now....yellow/black. This cost will be in the $600 range! LINE-X would work great for undercoating as long as all the oil and dirt is thoroughly cleaned. It would also be a challenge to keep it off brake lines, rubber body mounts, etc... The jeeps are usually a "body off" job, and are mostly brought to me that way!

I was wondering if it would be a body off job. Thanks for the reply, maybe I'll have the bed done b/c it is quite easy to take off. Hmmmmmmm I guess I'll have some thinking to do. Thanks again

Question

Have you ever undercoated a truck with Line-X. To me this seems like the ultimate undercoat. I was wondering if you had any idea of what the cost (or if it is at all possible?) of undercoating an extended cab 4x4. Thanks

Would just like to add my .02. I had a Pendaliner for about 6 months. Made squeeks and was very slippery when trying to load my motorcylce or carry anything in the back. Well sold the liner and got it Line-x'ed yesterday. Am very happy with the job. Should have done this first. Was also very happy with the dealer, when he was done, they washed the truck and even detailed it.

Question

Well, I am from Georgia, but I am curious for a price on spraying a short bed 2000 F150...and if I am planning on getting a polished aluminum toolbox, is there anything special I should do with the Line-x liner for mounting the toolbox? Thanks in advance

Hi Capt'n,
Regarding price....we are each independently owned and price fixing is somewhat illegal, but in general most of us are charging in the neighborhood of $340-375 for ur truck. As far as the tool box...definitely coat the bed before installing. The LINE~X thickness on the side wall of ur bed will be at or near an 1/8th", there should be plenty of room left for the box to slide in! After drilling the holes for the box, I would coat the OD of the holes with some type of paint to prevent rust! Good luck!

I'm on my 2nd truck with the Line-X coating and I love it. I even had my ner bars coated with, well worth because without it those steps can be very slippery when we. I was at a gun show recently (yeah I'm politically incorrect cause guns are my hobby and if the government want's em they'll get 'em - bullets first). Any way a deer hunting outfit had a new Chevy Suburban 4x4 set up with roof racks and roof seat - the whole exterior of the truck was coated with Line-X. It looked really good and is probably the next best thing to a full blown camo paint job. It was newly applied and still had the gloss on it but that will fade over time, which I consider ideal for what that vehicle is made for. Plus they don't have to wax it!

i had a line-x bedliner sprayed on my truck about a year ago and it still looks pretty good. but i have a question for you 3rdrock, the warranty info that the dealer gave me said about applying a nonsilicon uv protectant to keep it from fading. is there a product available in an auto parts store that will satisfy this, or do i have to go to the dealer (which is hard because its 6hrs away)? Also if you have to get the product from a dealer could you give me a rough estimate on the cost. Thanks.

Hi Dennis,
As far as what other product to use, I can't really say because I haven't used anything other than the LINE-X brand conditioner. I am certain that there other conditioners available, just be sure not to use an "Armoral" type product; you will turn ur bed-liner into a skating rink! Maybe you can try contacting the corporate office and see if they will send you some. The cost is somewhere near $15.00. ....Site address is Line-X.com or Line-xCorp.com! Good luck!
