Bedrug and Winter
Bedrug and Winter
For those who own Bedrugs, how well do they hold up during a bitterly cold and wet winter? Does the material degrade at all or do the properties stay pretty much the same?
Secondly, I have the factory duraliner and I know that if I buy a Bedrug and pull my liner out there will be scuffing and maybe even rust. Will this adversely affect the Bedrug install to a great degree??
Finally, I saw chickenears sale for Bedrugs @ $294.95 shipped...is that the best deal in town (so to speak)? Is that $259 sale going on still?
Your inputs are appreciated. Thanks.

Hi DD-976,
I'll try my best to answer your bedrug questions.
The rug will stand up fine during winter weather. now if your truck is parked outdoors 100% of the time, I think eventually, the color might fade from exposure to the sun, but I don't know for sure. As far as the ice and snow, this won't affect it at all.
As far as any possible rust/scuffing hindering the install, no, this won't be a problem. Just make sure you clean the area well because you have to put the Velcro strips on your bed in sections via an adhesive strip.
If you do have some rust, I would sand it down to remove as much as possible, and then put some kind of primer over top of it to keep it from spreading. (I think sanding, primer, and touch up paint will suffice)
Water will get underneath the bedrug, and exit through your trucks drain holes in the bed, that's why I would clean up that rust problem so it doesn't get worse (if in fact you discover rust down there)
As far as price, email chickenears and see if that low price is still up for grabs, you never know.
Good luck
Habibi

Habibi and 01XLT,
Thanks a bunch for the feedback. I know I may be late with the realization, but the Bedrug sounds like an outstanding liner. Habibi, I am glad that cold and wet do not affect it to a great degree. I have a tonneau as well, so there shouldn't be any problems if I do purchase one.
As for the rust on the bed, well, if I do find some I will give that primer a go after a quick wipe with StopRust (well, it works on Navy ships, why not my F150?).
Again, thanks for the help in answering my questions, I appreciate it.
