Question Bedrug experts please reply...

Ok, now that I have you here a few questions:

1. I do not have a cap on my truck, so when not parked in my garage, if I got a bed rug it would out in the open, sun, rain bird crap etc.

How well do they stand up to the enviroments? Especially the freaking birds?

2. Again along the lines of no cap on bed.

How well does the bed rug stay in place doing 60 - 70mpg down the turnpike/freeway?

3. And once more along the lines of no cap on the bed.

Anyone that has had one for a while and had it wet, from the hose, rain etc, have you ever looked under it and see any rust due to moisture?

4. This one along the lines of being one cheap basturd.

Where is the best place to get a bed rug, price wise (including shipping cost)?

Thank you very much for you're inputs...

Not an expert but can give you my experience. I've had a bed rug by wiser industries, for about a year and a half, no canopy. Still looks like new, when I wash my truck i just let some soap and water get in the bed, if there is a spot, I've had oil spots from hauling used oil to the recycler, I might brush it while it's wet, then I go to the local car wash and use their vaccum. Winds up looking like new! The rug isn't going to move, the velcro fasteners will hold very well. you should also mount the hold downs on top of the rug then you can use then and it will deter theft. I got my rug on ebay for $200. including shipping, I wouldn't count on a deal like that, it was a stroke of luck. I've seen them for $300. at a couple of places, don't remember where, do a search on this forum and I think you'll find them for $300. including shipping. Wise industries is a very good company to do business with, excelent warrenty.

Wise Industries makes the BedRug. I think they actually have the name BedRug copyrighted.

And I will confirm what was said earlier, it lasts. I don't have a cap on my truck and have had it installed since last April. It still looks really good, but not new.

The pain of trying to keep it looking new lies in how it is put together. It will come in 2 pieces, the bed floor and tailgate and then the other 3 vertical sides. The two pieces attach using a heavy-duty zipper. This zipper is right now at the corner where the bed floor meets the vertical sides. And it's hard to clean out this zipper channel (depending on what you haul).

Overall, I really like mine. I've hauled dirt/topsoil, gravel, mulch, sand, broken up drywall (really messy), and an assortment of other things. Right now its dirty, buts that just becuase I am to lazy to clean it.

I got mine from a guy named Randy Pile (I think I spelled his last name correctly). You should be able to do a search on the board and get his email address. He was really good to work with. I paid ~300 (incld. shipping) last April.

Oh, your other question - what it looks like underneth. I have no idea, I don't plan on taking it off unless it breaks or tares and I get another one under warrenty.

Hope this helps.

Steve

Yep. Wise makes the BR. I've been in contact with them trying to get them to manufacture a beige bedrug. Thus far, with ZERO results.

Thinking about getting a coushy BR for your truck Burt?

My 2 Cents

7/7/03

Not a bedrug expert, but recently bought one.

I called Wise Industries (manufacturer of the bedrug).. they were very helpful.

They even helped me find a local distributor.

I recently put my rug in.. looks great.

I don't know about water, dirt or anything else yet..
but DAMN does it look awesome

It took me about two hours to put in.. I'm a bit of a perfectionist.. wanted everything perfect.

Just my 2 cents
Dan

Wink bedrug installation

my son and i put one in 20 minutes

the secret is too peel and attach the velcro hooks before pressing against the side, front, and back panels. you cannot do this with the bottom.

i love it. it looks great. adds comfort and versatility to bed liners.

Re: Bedrug experts please reply...

I've gone about two years with an exposed bedrug (no cap), and I don't park in the garage either. I'll do my best to answer your questions....

1. I do not have a cap on my truck, so when not parked in my garage, if I got a bed rug it would out in the open, sun, rain bird crap etc.

How well do they stand up to the enviroments? Especially the freaking birds?

So far no the elements have not caused me any problems. I live in the soggy NW and have recently noticed a bit of moss growing in the corners. Like I mentioned though, that's after two years exposed.

2. Again along the lines of no cap on bed. How well does the bed rug stay in place doing 60 - 70mpg down the turnpike/freeway?

Put the tie downs on the out side of the rug. Tuck the sides under the bed caps. Use 5 pieces of velcro on the tail gate and front of the bed. Do all this and you will have no problems.

3. And once more along the lines of no cap on the bed. Anyone that has had one for a while and had it wet, from the hose, rain etc, have you ever looked under it and see any rust due to moisture?

Sorry never checked.

4. This one along the lines of being one cheap basturd. Where is the best place to get a bed rug, price wise (including shipping cost)?

Got mine for $305 installed locally. That's when s-crew's first came out. You should be able to much better.

Some down sides:
- They do not have the complete coverage like a spray on. You will see areas of exposed paint around the tail gate.

- The tail gate is not paded like the bed floor. I've racked my knees a couple of times now forgeting how hard the gate is.

- Bark dust and other slivery thinks are a nightmare to clean out. They get twisted up in the fibers and can be bear to get out. My detailer used a carpet shampooer to get it all clean.

Bottom line: Get the rug, you'll love it.
