How to: remove and replace Instument cluster lamps with step by step pics.
wow, that looks like a lot of work

worse than my recent headliner, sunroof removal... especially considering the needles..
thanks for the link.
Yeah, I probably would try that either. Give those LEDs I linked to you a try!
replaced that last two bulbs. if anything it's worse.
here is to hoping the new leds will be much brighter.
btw, my speedometer is not working now. all other gauges work and calibrate when the two cluster cables are plugged back in.
the other project i did during the day was try to get the steering wheel controls to work with the after market radio. so i spliced that wire.
confused now as to why it stopped working....

It's probably worse as far as brightness because the blue bulbs don't put out as much light. I think you may have left a couple of the backlights as incandescent before. That's why it was so much brighter and less blue in the middle.
That's strange. I never had an issue with any of the gauges not working. Did you check and recheck the two harnesses that hook up? And, did you cut into the cluster wire?

i have unplugged and replugged my cluster harness's (as in two) multiple times.
When i plug in the small one on the right, all the gauges go thru a calibration. all except the speedo. i will plug them in again with each plug going first to see if that fixes it, but i do not expect it will.
i did not cut in the cluster harness, but i did cut into the radio harness. i currently have a pac swi-x remote controller in line on what i believe is my steering wheel radio control wire. i will bypass the remote unit to see if that corrects the problem.
i am probably gonna add a few white bulbs back in for now until i get the new leds....
work-in-progress...
so i eliminated the work i was doing with the aftermarket radio and the steering wheel controls as the speedometer problem. while doing so i got my steering wheel controls working on my new radio, woohoo...
still trying to figure out the speedo. good thing we have cell phones with speedo apps these days.
strange that all guages work as does cruise control...
if anyone has any ideas please speak up...

was driving at night last night and turned on the bights. my GOD, i was almost blinded by the bright indicator. that has to change, lol...
anyway, new bulbs are in. hope to install them today. pics later after dark...
btw, until i can figure out the speedo, i picked up an ODB2 connected HUD speedo, with tach and all sorts of stuff. my phone app works, but its GPS and it lags a bit.

Haha. I know that feeling. I had to swap out my high beam indicator because it was as if someone was pointing a flashlight on my face.
The led I have in there (and the odomiter, as that was also too bright) are an LED bulb that each have two sideways facing chips and nothing facing forward. The rest of the bulbs are the 3-chip facing forward (like you ordered).
Yours being blue may be a little less intense though.
I actually just ordered another set of LEDs from China to try in there. They're warm white, so they'll give off the same color as stock and it will be less of a lush green.
We shall see.

new led bulbs installed. i also went back to a small bulb for now on the brights(will get replacement white led, since its already blue. i also went back to bulbs for the turn signals changing them back to green. they stand out better that way. not sure, may go back to blue leds cuz i haven't seen any of this at night yet....
and now my mind is blown. speedometer is working again. only thing that i found was a bulb that was a little loose. surely this is just a coincidence and the speedometer circuitry is not connected to the lighting circuit.
anyway, i tightened up that particular bulb socket and speedometer is good to go

no bueno, not even deserving of a pic.
probably just gonna go back to green, with blue turn signals. those showed up well. the temp gauge and fuel gauge also showed up ok with the old leds.
tomorrow i will try 3 blue leds to go with the white bulbs. should give me a multi-colored cluster. mostly green with blue accents.
disappointing, but i'm not getting into sanding the film off just for blue lights...
