I've got no problem with them comming on, but is there any way to keep the fogs off when locking the truck?????

I just tried this on my 03. I used the door keys bc the fob wont work when the keys are in the ignition. I got the horn chirp after step 3. Within 5 seconds, I unlocked twice, then turned the ignition to off/lock. Did not work. Tried it another time. Did not work. Any suggestions?

Your vehicle comes with the perimeter lighting feature enabled. All vehicle doors must be closed before beginning the procedure. You must complete Steps 1-5 withing 30 seconds, or the procedure will have to be repeated. If the procedure needs to be repeated, you must wait a minimum of 30 seconds to begin again.

1. Turn the ignition to the ON position, then press the unlock control three times.
2. Turn the ignition to the OFF/LOCK position, then press the unlock control three times.
3. Turn the ignition to the ON position; the horn will chirp to indicate the driver configuration mode has been activated.
4. Within five seconds, press the unlock control two times.

Note: One horn chirp should be heard, indicating the system has been disabled. Conversely, a horn chirp followed by a honk will indicate the system is enabled. Pressing the power door unlock control two times again will turn the feature ON if it was previously OFF, or OFF if it was previously ON. Every two consecutive presses of the unlock control after successfully entering the configuration mode will change the enable/disable condition of the feature.

5. Turn the ignition to the OFF/LOCK position to exit programming.

Note: After exiting the driver configuration mode, the horn will chirp once to indicate a feature has been activated/deactivated.


This does not work with my 2010 F150 XLT Supercab. If anyone has figured out how to disable the perimeter lighting on a '10, please let us know. My dealer says it cannot be done, but I am skeptical.

I have contacted the factory via email, and they don't seem to know what I am asking.

I got replies back from Ford that said unlocking the door with the key will not turn on the perimeter lights on a 2010. That is total hogwash! The perimeter lights come on any time a door is opened. I wrote back to the customer rep asking her to pass it to the Ford engineers. Obviously she does not have a clue as to what I am asking. She equates unlocking the door with actually opening it, and I cannot make her understand. Wish I was closer to their HQ and I WOULD get to the bottom of this. I have requested a software patch to be issued to enable the turning off of the perimeter lighting feature. It is obviously a DEFECT in the 2010, as the perimeters could be disabled on the 2009.

Another update (from the tech guys at the factory...I was VERY persistent):

I was advised that it is possible to disable perimeter lighting, however, it is not something that can be done with a key sequence. Your dealer has an IDS Diagnostic Tool that when used in Police Mode, can disable your perimeter lighting. Since this is not a warranted item, the dealer may charge you for this service.

They won't charge me...it's something that I have been very displeased about, and my dealer knows it.

 

Will that work on a 2007 Ford explorer? Nothing in manual of course. So vague on everything

I do not get the chirp and I'm trying to disable my perimeter lights function!!
