I tee'd my temp sensor into the line that goes into the top of the radiator. Around town it ranges from 120-130*, in traffic it creeps up to 145, is that normal since I DO have both trans, and power steering aux. coolers.

I guess I just want to make sure I got it in the correct line and getting realistic temps.

I do believe they already have a temp sensor in there from factory.....my scangauge picks up the stock sender unit and have a full digital display for it. I doubt you can rig an aftermarket gauge to the factory sender unit so you will have to look at an access point for it.

thanks RP

I haven't had a chance to do the temp sensor stuff yet. Gonna wait until i tear into the trans to do a Jmod on it. Ive got a priority that is getting my focus and money and that is getting my truck slammed right now

when i do get around to the Jmod, expect a writeup on that, and ill probably update this thread with the temp sensor stuff

Cool. The guys I know at the local Mustang shop has a guy that sells the seperator plate that has been J-modded for our 4r70W tranny for pretty cheap once you return the old one for a core charge. After that you are pretty good for 400hp+ and can eliminate the shift points from your tuner if you have one.

in stock trim the transmission slips a little when you have the AC on and its really hot outside, then when you do the Jmod and you are moving more fluid through the transmission you need to upgrade the cooling as well, so im just doing a supporting mod for the Jmod

Question for the OP. Once you have connected the lines to the new cooler, do you just start it to get the fluid flowing thru it? wont the air cause a bubble in the system that can possibly harm the trans or is it so instant that it doesnt matter? Do you pre fill the cooler before the install or no? just curious cause im looking to do this in the near future.

no just leave the truck in park or neutral for a few minutes and let the trans push the fluid through the cooler. the style cooler i have holds only an ounce or two of fluid, so doesnt take long to fill. infact i bought a quart of fluid thinking the trans might need to be topped off, and after the install but the fluid level on the dipstick didnt move at all

Good write up.
There is an inspection port on the Dr's side of the trans that is threaded with a screw in plug. Remove the plug, and it is a good spot to screw in a sender for a temp gauge. Very EZ.
