How to add KC lights behind 04-09 grill "Step by Step"!
Well only doing 2 lights, there shouldn't be horrible wobble so long as the bracket isn't made very wide. Wobble is also dependent on the weight of the lights, as heavier lights need greater support. I've heard from people that a basic design without bracing is good enough and that the vibrations are "tolerable", but I've also heard from others that the wobble is just plain bad. You won't know until you try yours out. Hopefully yours works!
After finishing mine I'm thinking the steel used should have been 1"x1/4"x48"
I know you can make the braces as noted in this thread but having only done 2 light it would be a long stretch. I'm going to wait till dark and adjust them and see how they are while driving.
For those who used 1"x1/8"x48" (Thread starter), do you notice any major light wobble while driving on roads? (and also off road)?

well I guess I'm "(Thread starter)"
Hi my name is Skip!

No I don't have light wobble while driving. There is some wobble on rough road. I installed them so I can see Bambie before they kiss my bumper!

Hope this helps. Cheers

I just finished mine and here is the results.
Wiring: Used 20am switch with 16g wire with 2 20am fused and 40amp relay.

My bracket didn't have the sharp bend like the other pictures in this thread. I ended up having to use the door on my safe to bend since I didn't have a vise.

I used rustoleum black.

I used butt connectors and then taped around for added protection.

I also ended up mounting my lights a little lower as you can see the curve when looking at the above picture. They look real good during the day and the grill doesn't affect any light output at night. I haven't tested the stability of the 1/8 steel used but just by me tapping the lights the light bar seems pretty sturdy.
The lights are 100w Pilot off road light kit Model NV-802CP.

That looks GREAT! I decided to use some means of stabalization since I added a 3rd "Z" bracket, I believe that gave my bracket a greater ease of centrifugal motion especially since my bracket is so d@mn wide. Test your lighting on some heavy offroading. I only suggest this because I personally like to see if what I have is capable of a worst-case scenario, and whether I can handle it, lol.
Pictures man, show me the pictures!
Hey rush88GT,
I see you used a steel tube instead of the steel strap as the rest of use did. Have you tested the lights out at night and do you have any shake in them while driving or hitting bumps?

I do have some shaking. I am planning on making another bracket to stop it. I am going to use the tube to help hide the wires and it added some extra height to the lights.
First off great write up guys. But i too had to make the Z brakets longer. The 7 inch bracket made the lamps just barley clear the plastic upper on the bumper. So i made them at 10.5 inches long. ill post my pics in a bit as my mount is drying as i type
If I had a welder and other professional tools mine wouldn't move either...lol...
Really REALLY nice job on those brackets. You might think about fabbing some more up and selling them.
I mounted them to the frame itself because there was already holes in it from the factory. And for making some to sell i was thinking about it but im really slammed with time this month but i might be able to make some more next month and i'll get some more pictures up on my profile of how i mounted them and the stuff i used.
