Shelby heat extractor install on my Harley F150
Shelby heat extractor install on my Harley F150
Just finished installing the Shelby vent and it turned out great. Some of you may remember this install I did on my silver truck. I took alot of pics and would be glad to help anyone with this mod. The vent only cost 37.00 from Ford.

The part # from Ford is : AR3Z-16C630-AA .
The reason I chose to mount the vent where I did was because I was worried about water dripping on the electronics such as the tps sensor, coil packs, etc...I have run this vent on my silver truck with no isues what so ever . The vents on the Shelby are also located toward the front of the vehicle and wanted to share the same basic location since the engineers at Ford most likely tried different locations as well. I do think the vent on my truck would look great painted but I am actually going to get rid of the billet grill and replace it with a 01-up Lightning grill and I think it would look great if both the grill and the vent were the both colors and you wouldn't have any issues with rock chips,etc...
To do this job you will need a cutting wheel, measuring tape, blue masking tape, marker, and safety glasses.
I measered the hood, and centered the scoop and used the masking tape for guides as well as surfaces to make my marks on. I traced the vent onto cardboard and made a templete.

You do have cut the outer layer of the hood as well as remove areas on the inner that will interfer with the vent.
-before-
-after-

Once the outer and the inner layer is cut and trimmed all you have to do is slide the vent forward( there is a grove on vent that the outer is able to slide into) and the vent does have double sides tape for the edges already provided by Ford. The vent has tabs on both ends that I removed with the cutting wheel and the vent has a stud in the middle that allows you to use a washer and a nut to help secure the vent.
This Mod can be done in less than one hour as long as you have a air compressor that can keep up. This vent is functionable and a great mod for the money. Thanks again for all of the compliments, I really appreciate it.

Looks good. I did the same on my Mustang... 'cept I had to modify it a bit to fit the hood.
