Thanks man! As you can see I also painted the calipers white while I was at it. I did mine off the truck, and no clear coat, thats the only difference...

That looks mean! Love the ptm calipers--great touch. Fantastic job.

You'll have to let us know how the paint holds up on yours. Looking back I wouldn't have put clear coat over mine because of how shiny they were. I was afraid, though, that without the clear coat the paint would be more prone to any damage. I'm sure you'll be fine but if anything happens let us know for future reference.

Truck looks amazing.

Great write up. I just painted my OEM 17" Expedition wheels that I use in the winter time and they came out great. I masked off the Ford logos before painting so they still show. Pic was taken with my cell - sorry for the quality.

Nice, man, good luck. Remember if they're chrome be sure to scuff them up really well and use some type of self-etching primer and/or adhesion promoter.

If you have any questions feel free to ask here or PM me. Should be able to answer pretty quick (<1 hr). I check email often throughout the day.

Hey,

They are im guessing just aluminum wheels, Ive pretty much completed the passenger side wheels due to time and light. I scuffed them up really good with 320 grit sandpaper, then cleaned them off, since the wheels had some gashes and other scratches I put on a few layers of filler primer, after those coats I put on a few good coats of self etching primer, and then after a good 3-4 coats of that I put on 4-5 Coats of Semi-gloss black paint...The wheels and center cap are black with chrome lugs(until I can find black) because I dont know if I want to paint them. As soon as I get the pictures uploaded I will post them

So I finally finished my project!!! Have to say I love the way it looks but waiting for this rain to stop so I can pull it out and get a look at it in some better light, pretty sure ill have to do some wet sanding and possibly a little touch up..but I finished the driver side and added clear coat to all 4 wheels about 3-4 coats of it. Heres some pictures after I finished.

Before

After

Left the lugs and air cap chrome not sure if I want to leave it like that or order black ones. Better pics soon.

Just curious if anyone has had any issues further down the line after painting? I am contemplating doing mine (still has chrome rocker panels and doesnt make sense till i remove those). I would prefer to keep as much gloss off of it as possible. Just curious how the clearcoat has provided needed protection to some or the lack thereof has caused problems for others.

Mine have held up well so far only chipping has come from when I needed to get the tires replaced (chipping from the remounting/balancing) since some a$$hole decided to fork my rear two tires when they were only three weeks old. I just re-sprayed around the areas that were chipped and they look fine again.
