The leather LARIAT console lid

The leather Mark LT shifter handle

WhooHoo! 1K posts!

Tomorrow I have to clean out the truck, and wipe down the seats. I bought some Megs' leather cleaner/protectant wipes to use on them.

Now that the install is complete, I think the OEM leather covers are better, they had a better fit, and looked better. I installed a set of OEM covers in my old 05 when the take-off leather sets were on ebay for less than 100 bucks.

First of all, the 04-06 shifters are different between the 150's and the Mark LT's. The 150 shifter button slides inward when you push it, the LT shifter has a pivot near the top of the button and swings in.

In 07 ford finally put the same shifter in both, they both pivot at the top of the button.

To remove the LT and 07-up 150 shifters, just pullout the bottom of the button and slide a small screwdriver in there and pop out the button. Now take a T-15 torx bit and remove the only screw. Pull off shifter, install new one. The new handle comes with a new white plastic clip, because chances are you will break the old one when you pull out the button.

I'm not exactly sure how you remove an 04-06 150 shifter, I would guess you have to get the button out and the screw is under there.

For those with the 04-06 style 150 shifter, it might be easier to just get a wrap to cover your existing shifter, than trying to modify an LT to fit.

Looks real good. How much did that kit run you? I looked on their site but it didn't show the kits for trucks, just cars. When I bought mine I actually wanted leather as we spend alot of time at the lake in the summer and getting in and out of the truck wet loading the boat just makes it easier to keep clean but but I found my 04' XLT scab 4x4 for $8500 and couldn't pass it up so I had to loose the leather idea.

Also, what kind of condition are your original covers in? Any pics of them? I may be interested. Mine aren't tore up but do have light stains on them that I cant get out. Plust they are light gray and show everything.

I bought them here http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/04-05...spagenameZWDVW

Paid 550 and 20 shipping for a black set.

My original covers a black and in excellent shape, I only have 10K miles on my truck.

perfect timing I am about to do the same mod. If you only had the 40/20/40 bench this would be perfect. Looks Great! Please tell me you have a dog.

We just got through doing this "mod" last weekend. It's a chore of a job and I was sore for a good day and a half afterwards but it looks so much nicer than the light flint cloth crap we had.

I commend you for the pics...we removed our seats entirely and worked in the garage, I imagine your space was constrained in the cab but it looks nice.

We purchased ours from leatherseats.com via an ebay sale they routinely offer. Our XLT center console is/was the hardest part of the job; so many specialty plastic items that break and hard to wrap. We are only lacking the top piece of the center console (where your elbows rest)...we want to make sure that its done as good as can be.

Next time I will buy it with the leather option, don't want to go through this again
