Head/fog/backup lights

Is there a bulb I can get for my back up lights? I need something alot brighter, I can hardly back out of my driveway at night.

Also I was looking at getting silverstar bulbs(9007st) for my headlights, but I seen Xenarc kit has been better. What one would be the best to get? Also how hard is it to install the kit's? And how much do they run?

Also what can I do to give my fog lights a boost??? I read someone put silverstar bulbs in them??? 9005's or something.

not sure what brand bulb, but i know you can change the reverse lights. its really easy. take out the taillight and the bulb is right there. 15 minute job max.
i used to have the size written down cuz i was gonna get some new ones, but never got around to it and threw the paper out. it should tell you in your manual though

Lightbulb

The posts I've read about changing back up light bulbs don't offer much encouragement. I posted a question once about adding an auxiliary set of back up lights and got several positive responses. I just haven't got it done yet.

aux backup lamps by Pilot, at autozone

Follow the link to my photo area, I don't know how to post a pic here, but i have aux back up lamps mounted on my bumper,
I bought them at AutoZone for $24.95, comes with a wiring harness and all. Simple installation, actually they are supposed to strap to the hitch with huge wire ties. But I found two square holes in the bumper, and mounted them there.

Check out JCWhitney. They've got a real nice set of backup lights (2 - 55w bulbs) that mount around the factory installed hitch. They also have one that will fit if you don't have a hitch. I have one, it looks real nice and does not look cheaply built. I'll take some picturs of it and post it.

XENARCS!!! I live and die by these things! They are simply incredible.

$499 www.suvlights.com

As far as the backup lights are concerned, I've seen a simple bulb replacement available on ebay occasionally. I think they were a 'hyper white' bulb but honestly, I can't see that tiny little bulb making that big of a difference... if you want more light on reverse, you need to install some lights under the bumper or elsewhere.

G'luck...

As far a back-up lights go, check the link below. I've gotten a bunch of comments on these. They look good and are very functional. They even have a weatherproof switch mounted in the unit that allows you to turn them on when the truck is running. Gives you extra light when working on a trailer at night.

Question Replace your with LED bulbs

I just bought on Ebay a pair of back up bulbs that have at least 10 white LED bulbs on each back up bulb. You proably seen these LED lights on those key chain lights. I'm a firefighter and have one and it puts some light out and it is only 1 bulb. The replacement # for your back up bulb is 3156. A pair on ebay will run you about $13 plus shipping. I also bought replacements for my brake lights and cargo and high mount brake light. The cargo and third brake light are going to be 4 LED bulbs and those #'s are 912 but when I got them off Ebay the numbers are 194. The brake light bulbs have 19 LED bulbs for each side. There #'s in the manual are 3457. On Ebay they are going to be 3156. Its sounds confusing but its not. They explain on Ebay. Well good luck seeing in the night.........Toipjake

Back-up light upgrade to 55 watt halogens, they kick ***, got 'em from performance parts, a sweet upgrade and worth the cost, proof is in the pic:

As for the LED's, they suck, dont waste your money on them, for back-up lights that is. They are sweet for brake lights, however they do not disperse light as halogen bulbs do, they are just bright. So, your back-up lights will be a very white light, however it doenst go anywhere, doesnt light up the ground. We have LED's and halogens on our resuce truck and the LED's blos, the halogens is what lights up the ground. So, if you dont want to add a pair of lights off the rear of your truck, i know i sure wouldnt, upgrade to the 55watt halogens.

Now for foglights and headlights, well you gotta go with the SilverStars, they are sweet also! And upgrade to 9005 for the foglights, def. worth it. Some guys on here may give you crap about cutting tabs, i didnt and they work great, they fit right in. Also they maygive you crap about browning the lens or melting the lens, BS also, almost 2 years and NO problems, they are sweet! I will add a pic here to show the difference. But if you really wanna spend some cash, i recommend Xenarcs, now they are bad ***, but WAY too expensive for me....

Thats the diff, between stock fog bulb and SilverStar upgrade to 9005's

Now here is the complete set-up, a very clear, white light. There are more pics in my mods gallery...

Let us know what you do!

Bright as all he!! and no amp draw what so ever.

Truck-lite LED backup lights.
2 single LED backup lights draw 1 amp each. ( these are the type where a semi only needs one for DOT required lighting for backing up, there are also 2 light sets, but these put out half the lumen, and draw half as much ).

I put a switch in so I can turn them on when I need them, and the other position is so they come on with the back up lights.

They will light up the garage across the street from my friends house, when I am in his drive way. This is about 75'.

Sorry for the bad focus, the camera did not have something to focus on, when I took the pic, but you get the idea.

Let me know if you have any questions, I can dig up the p/n and the place I got them at, if you cannot find them locally.

Thumbs up

2002S-Crew

I added back-up lights after I installed my truck cap. I used Hella's P-1000 Clear Fog Lights and switched them from inside the cab using the "Red" switch. The Green one is for the front driving lights.
