hood protector...
Are you talking about the lexan or polycarbonate hard plastic type? Or are you talking about a bra?
When I was looking around for these, I found that almost any place that sells truck accessories, especially fiberglass canopies, etc. would also have bug deflectors. It's my understanding that you buy a clear one and have the back painted the same color as your truck. Many places around Spokane keep the more popular colors in stock.

I got a color-matched one fro my tryck. If I remember right it's a Bugflector II by Autoventshade. I really like that the plastic is coloured to match; I painted the back of a clear one on my Ranger and it scratched pretty easy.

I have the Lund Interceptor and had it painted to match my truck. It looks great and stands far enough off the hood that I can get behind it to wash and wax the truck. It cost about $75.00 to have it color matched but they paint the back of the shield and the paint is unaffected by the bugs that hit the shield. Mine still looks great after being on the truck 5 years. It also looks pretty aerodynamic.
