Any ideas? And how would I do this?

I was thinking of painting some things under my hood. However, I have not really painted too much before and I am scared of messing up. I usually just armoral everything under my hood that I can and then use crome polish on what I can. However, I am getting "bored" with the look under the hood and I would like to grab some more attention.

What items should I paint? Since my truck is red, should I get some MSD iginition wires... They are red too.. And also are used for a purpose.

Should I paint my battery cables, the top of my fan, the battery fuse box, the thing thats located against my firewall on the right? What should I do, and what have you guys done? I am really just looking for a change but dont want to go "ricer". Is there any other thing that you guys have done that adds a little umph?

I'm not to familar with the F-150 engine bay as I just got mine 2 weeks ago but I don't think that paint will stick on the cables. They flex and I doubt the paint would be too adhesive to rubber anyways. Try buying some stainless steel braided hose covers. It looks sharp but you don't have to refit all the hoses or take anything out.

This may get expensive but Jet Hot coatings makes high temperature spray that looks like chrome. The only bad thing is that you have to send pieces you want done over to their shop. So your truck would be parked until you got them back. An alternative to this would be to find a local shop and have some pieces powdercoated. It looks professional and it can withstand the heat.

Also try different color hoses. Not yellow please! something that accents your truck without looking like an eye sore when you open up the engine bay.

I agree with Must Ride.

Less is more when it comes to polishing or painting underhood items. . .

I've known some people who color matched all the filler lids (oil, coolant, washer fluid, dipstick handle, trans. dipstick handle, etc.) and that looked good because he went with black letters on the colored caps. Subtle, but cool. Plug wires and braided hoses are another cool addition. . .Just don't get caught in the trap where you end up having to chrome plate every nut, bolt, bracket, and hose clamp. It's murder to keep all that stuff clean on a daily driver. . .and nothing looks as bad as dirty chrome.

PAINT!!

Mega super ultra easy mod. I love it... and of course I went with the Arizona Beige/Chestnut Brown to match my King Ranch!

Braided hose covers..

I should be able to purchase these at NAPA correct? If so, I think I will go that route.

Thanks for the ideas!

Thumbs up

Here's a section under the hood of mine, just could never bring myself to paint anything outright. I did use some red clear on the MAF, and red wire loom with yellow tie wraps. It looks okay to me, but I may do a braided hose kit, too. After that I may call it done and move on to something else.,,,,,98
