I am lowered 3/3. The pic's are decieving because of the glare on the fender flares, but I have about 2 1/2' of air from top of tire to top of wheel well. Languru is right. I do have the same problem with limitations of the bump stops (front)as well. If I go lower it will not be drivable on roads which is why I am considering bags.

It has lowered springs in rear, and new torsion keys in the front w/ a alignment kit to bring it all back to stock. Aside from the typical rusty parts, its a easy install. With the kit, I installed the Bilstein shocks and Hotchkis sway bars front and rear. Add the 305's and it really hugs the road. Currently it is a great blend of a lower look and still a capable 4 wheeler, i.e. towing camper, boat, trail driving, & snow and rain driving is awesome. I use my 76 bronco for anything uglier than that!

WMS is selling a 2 1/2" kit currently which is nice for around $450.00 I think. They have before/after pics of an expo like mine. I will be under it this weekend and can post some pics, but the kit parts looks stock so nothing stands out. The guys at the Ford dealer still don't know its lowered, and they did the alignment! Email me if you have any Q's.

Actually, a Lightning is only 2 inches lower in the front and only 1 inch lower in the rear, than a stock F-150. The reason it looks lower than that is because of the wheels/tires as well as the lower front bumper and side moldings. Yeah they have 18s, but the rims are wrapped in 295/45/18s, which is only a 28.5 inch tall tire. Most stock late model f-150s with a 3.55 rearend have 30 inch tall tires (those with 3.08 rearends usually get the a 29 inch tall tire). The lightning stock tire is not only short but is wide as well. As we all know, a wide aggressive street tread provides very sensitive steering.

Lightnings also use the same steering gears (14 to 1 ratio constant ratio) as a regular F-150. I wish they had a 12 to 1 constant ratio steering. That is some tight steering!

I tried emailing you but either you did not recieve my email or you have been unable to get back with me. I was wondering who you bought your kit from to lower your 4x4 and if you did it yourself. I havent found a 4x4 lowering kit for my truck yet and since you have I was wondering if you could email me the site and what not at kendall@sledtalk.com, since I hear we are not supposed to be discussing prices and such on this board.

Thanks!

wow, that looks amazing dropped, i would go that way if you have the money. also, i would look into buying a 2wd instead, it would probabley save you plenty of money in the long run. but a word of advice- get an aftermarket bumper or lightning bumper. i have a 99 f150, and i hate the chrome bumper and plastic valance, and i hate the earlier ones. i really don't think they look very good at all. i would personally invest in a bumper first, but it definatley looks good dropped.

Thanks!
I have looked all over, I see that they make a lowering kit for the Navigator 4x4, and expo but I cant seem to find one for my f150 4x4 anywhere. I was thinking of investing in the front bumper as well.... However to do this conversion it is around 1000 bucks. That is a bit out of my price rang right now. I would really like to lower my truck at this point and time. Once I know what I am going to do from there I will let you know.

Also, if anyone knows where I can get this kit I would greatly appreciate it. I am just looking for a 3/3 drop or even a 3/2drop. Just something to allow me to have better stearing capabilities.
Thanks again.
