Brake Cleaner for Emblems

I just finished my emblems, but no way was I going to use acetone any where near my perfect paint. A guy told me that Brake Cleaner would work, he said you dont even have to mask (but I did anyway) the black paint on the embems came right off. I just sprayed the cleaner on and scrubbed it off with a rag, I even got it all over my paint and it didn't hurt it at all. Brake Cleaner is the way to go!

Exclamation caution

Anything that strips the paint so easily off the emblems can't be good for the paint on your truck...I used the acetone and covered a large area aroung the emblems. I heard the acetone takes the clear coat off ...hopefully the brake cleaner doesn't.

I don't believe this works wiht the 97...the emblems have the paint 'baked' into them so it doesn't come off....you can get new emblems from your dealer if you want.

Emissions,
See my post on 97-98 emblems about two weeks ago. The 97 has a black crome under the paint and really does clean up nice. even better for me since I have a black truck.
You can click on my url in my signature and see before and after photos.
