Bugflector II
I put a bugflector II on awhile ago and today i was checkin my oil and noticed the stupid thing has RUBBED off my paint above both headlights!! I am Very pissed. I tried calling them but it was late afternoon on friday so nobody important was there to do anything about it.
I installed one of the bugflector IIs on my truck when I first got it 2.5 years ago. The stupid thing broke like 3 months later. I now have a lund triton bug shield. It is much stronger and hasen't put any marks on the grill. It mounts a whole lot better too.
JerPamB,
Mine did the same thing, just put a little rubber underneath and it helps like ruger-dfw said. Have had mine on for 2 yrs and its still looking good.
Sodus is a nice place to live. Used to belong to the Sodus Bay Yacht club when I lived in Rochester yrs ago. You guys get the brunt of the lake effect snow though. Sills marina took lots of money from me in those sailing days.

Are you sure it's on tight enough? Mine has at least an inch of room. I had some kind of bug shield on a Ranger once that rubbed the paint off, so when I put my Bugflector II on, I made sure it was really on good.
yes its on as tight as the chinsey little mounting screws will let it be. Ive had bug IIs on other vehicles with no prob but on my shiney red screw it rubs my paint off.damn im still torqued. thanks to all that replied.

Ford deflector
I shelled out $80 or so for the "official" Ford bug deflector, and it's rubbed off the paint on top of the grille. It's mounted properly, the dang thing's just not a perfect fit. Makes it hard to get the hood shut too - you have to get on it a bit to get the latch to catch. I would have expected an aftermarket deflector to have this type of issue, but not the "official" Ford deflector - that's why I paid more for it.
Besides the paint issue, the paper template that came with the deflector for siting the little rubber dimples wasn't quite right. I wound up moving a couple of them when it became apparent they weren't in the right place to prevent the deflector from laying down against the top of the hood. They of course then fell off 'cause the adhesive was eroded, so had to get double side molding tape to hold the dimples down.
Other than that, it's been a fine deflector ;-)

I had the same bugflector II and it did the same to mine... when I put the billet grill in I decided to take off the bug guard... it made the front end look a lot cleaner with it off and no more worrying about the grill surround getting screwed up...
Just replaced my Bugflector with a Lund Trident. Much better material and it does not rub the truck like the Bugflecter. It does however require little clamps that tighten against the hood. I don't see it as a problem, but will keep an eye on it. I like it much better than the old one.
