Unhappy Headlight problem - need insight

Hi All,

This week my passenger side headlight went dim (not out just very dim). All other lights (other headlight and fogs) are fine so it can't be the alternator... I changed the bulb in the light and the problem persisted. The interesting thing is that I flashed my highbeams and the problem fixed itself. Of course, once I shut down my truck and restarted it, the problem was back. A seperate symptom that occurs during this problem is that the hi-beam indicator on my dashboard glows a very faint blue (when the headlight is working, you can't see it at all). Seems like a short or a ground but was interested in knowing if any of you have had a similar problem and, if so, could offer some insight to troubleshoot and/or fix this problem.

Thanks in advance

check where the bulb attaches to the harness.
there is a small plastic clip on top(it holds the harness on and tight)
I just took mine in to a body shop and they broke this and it diden't work all the way home, wigle it and see if that is the problem.
it may have come loose or broken.
if so I fixed mine with some duck tape till I get back there.
pull it up ward...
good luck.

It sounds like a ground to me as well. Sounds like current is backing up thru the high beam and finding a little bit of ground on that side. I have no idea where the ground goes to on the headlight circuit but you can always locate the ground wire and run it anywhere to ground. If that fixes the light then just attach it as an extra ground.

Thanks for the replies -- I'll check the ground and go from there...
