I have done that to my truck and no it does not cost that much 1400 is way high. Here is what you need you need the bumper cover.

XL3Z-17a861-AA
XL3Z-17a861-AB Fill assyembly the thingy that goes under the grille shell
these cost like 20 bucks

XL3Z-17E856-aa
XL3Z-17E856-ab should be the pastic v shaped bumper cover brackets fits right ontop of the bumper
cost about 20 bucks

1L3Z-17E857-BA
1L3Z-17E856-BA I think the lower bumper cover brackets
cost like 30...as you can see im guessing

1L3Z-17D957-BB This is your bumper cover
costs like 250 with shipping.

the fog lights i do not have there # but they are the 2001 models and cost 180 bucks.

You will need an upper and lower billet grill
200 bucks its cheaper than paying for fords stock lower grill for the lightning.

thats pretty much it your gonna need a fog light wiring kit it costs 20 bucks and you can figure out how you want it.

Im not sure of the total but i figured it out once befor its pretty expensive but worth it and a whole lot cheaper than karkraft.com

These all come from www.fordpartsonline.com

I hope this helps if you have any more questions just ask and i will get back to you.

Mine is not the original from Ford (but can you tell???) and paid about 400 for the bumper (wingswest, westwings, whatever...) and 200 to have it painted at a local body shop. Then I did the installation myself. Oh yeah, lights came from the autoparts store, ran about 50 bucks.

With the LOBO emblems now everyone asks me if this is a "special production" truck. Have not seen another one like mine yet.

Alf, that looks tight. Mine is a 98 so Iam sure it will be a lot harder for me to install one of those. I really dont feel like buying the new bumper!

Alf,

That's a sweet ride, man. Sort of inspirational, really.

Do you know exactly the name of the company that did your bumper?

Here you go:

http://www.wingswest.com/

Wings West

Newport Beach, CA 92663-2801

PHONE:
Orders Only (800) 222-6995
Tech Line (949) 722-9995

FAX:

I looked everywhere within their website but there's no picture of the bumper cover anywhere. I knew I could get it through them because Truckin' magazine did an article about them.

I hope this helps.

Yeah but that's the problem everyone is doing the lightning mod. I would Just go with a better Looking Spoiler for the front (Air Dam). That way it's original not just another look a like. Every Truck around here is dressed up like a Lightning and they even have the emblems on the the fenders. When these trucks get beat by v6's and other v8's it's sorta slammin the good name. I'm not saying anyone on this post is doing that, It's just that I like to be original with my ride.

Will316 - that is your right, to do what you like. Just like everyone else. I put the L badges on because I do not like the F150 badges and did not want to Bondo the holes (pretty bad when a mfg. has to put holes in your truck to get something as simple as badges to go on straight). I do like the LOBO badges, but just recently found out about them. I really wanted an L, not just because of speed, but because of its styling. However, unless the L is going to be a third or fourth vehicle, it just is not practical being a single cab.

Most people like my truck because it is different, kind of a novelty because most people know they don't make a four door L. And if they ask, I always let them know that it is just looks. And I know my limitations - I do not try to pose as an L because I would not want the L t get a bad rep by my beast getting outrun by a little ricerocket.

And for those that don't know what I have when they pull up beside me (and won't know until I really get a supercharger), why not keep them guessin'??!!!

Everyone is doing the L bumper, everyone is doing the L tailights and headlights, everyone tints their windows, everyone changes their wheels and tires - they must do it because they like the way it looks. I sure don't want to spend $30,000 on a truck that looks like something you would find at a construction site!!!

I agree with everything you have said. The lightning look a likes are majority around here. I have had a run in with a pretty good bunch of them and they have told me that their trucks were real. When I ask for them to pop the hood they come up with some excuse why they can't it just gets old real fast. It's kinda like putting cobra emblems on a v6 mustang that still has the stock bumper. Now if you do it for looks then it's all good, your not trying to pass it off as a lightning. Now as the bumper I was throwing an cheaper option out there for looks. Just my 2 cents thanx.

You might get a laugh out of this. Ran into a guy one day at the gas station who was checking out my truck. Asked me if it was a Lightning - of course I said no. He pointed over to a red Screw and said that it was his and he had the "Cobra" edition. When I asked what that was, he said it was a factory option that anyone could get. From what I could tell, he had a Lariat with running boards and a truck box - that was it - everything else was factory!!! Of course he had a Cobra sticker on each fender and the tailgate. Hope he did not get screwed (excuse the pun) with that option!!!
