I havn't seen one on a 4x2. I'd get one myself but I don't know how it woud fit. Even if it were not too low, on my '97 I'd need a different bumper. I'm sure it could be done but I haven't seen it.

Looks good here.

I put a Westin on my Wifes Sport Trac. It's the same as this except no brush pan. These are not sturdy or strong. Four bolts underneath where the towhooks would mount. No support on the upper portion of the guard. It can easy be pushed back into the bumper.
I just installed a WAAG sportster on my 150. Four hours to install!. It was a ball buster, but the thing is bolted to the frame with ten bolts at three different locations on each side. That thing is sturdy. Makes the Westin look real wimpy now.

MN-Trap, 30 minutes huh? Guess I'm REALLY bad with wrenches. The instructions leave alot to be desired. Of course, If I had to do it again, it would certaintly go faster :-).
I'll snap a pic or two. I had to remove the black skirt under the chrome bumper (12 screws), then need to loosen all bumper bolts (8 bolts, 4 large). Then install upper brackets, upper frames, lower brackets, and tighten after the front piece was assembled. I did do this without putting the front on any jackstands. Made for a very tight working area. (4x2, sits low in the front, even with a full tank of gas). If you have a 4x4 and the front is higher off the ground, it would help a great deal.
hikerrich-They are not bad bars, I just don't like the lack of support in the upper area of the bar. It's way too easy to have the top pushed back twoard the truck.
Whereas the WAAG, well, heaven forbid any deer step in front of it.

Thumbs up

I installed a WAAG Brush/Grillguard this Saturday on my 4wd F150.

jacked it up and put it on the jack stands and went to work.

WAAG produces a great product and although the instructions were not always as clear as I would like, I was able to complete the job in 2 hours (all by myself except for a little help from the wife in aligning the guard).

Just make sure you have a deep socket 13/16mm wrench handing to loosen the four bumper bolts!!

The end result is a rock solid, excellent quality product.

Linetest,
I didn't mean to imply anything about your mechinical ability. This is what I pulled for their web site.

WAAG Sportster Center Grill Guard Features:
Bolts-on in 25-30 minutes with basic hand tools.
I guess they must be referring to their factory trained installers. Can you post a picture of the finished install? I'd like to see what it looks like on a "real" truck, not a picture in an Ad.
Thanks again!

LOL, that's okay, I don't pretend to be a mechanic. The way I had to crawl under the truck (on a gravel driveway no less), and reach up with the tools made me stop more often for a minute or two than if I could have put the truck up on a lift. Plus crawling out all the time cause I didn't have the right size sockets in my mouth. (I have no eye for that stuff), and remember, metric on the truck, regular stuff (SAE?) on the WAAG.
BAJANBLACK probably had a better estimate of 2 hours.
I'll try and take some pics tonight and get them up tomorrow morn.
I'm curious why you want to mess with it since it looks like you have the full guard on now?

Direct from Westin,

"The Bull Bar will not work on the 2 wheel drive F150. There aren't any plans at this time to make the Bull Bar for the 2 wheel drive F150. The four wheel has tow hooks and the bull bars uses the tow hook mounting surface to attach to the vehicle.
Jason Kaiser Applications Engineer"

This kinda sucks because I was looking to try to put a Bull Bar on my truck.

That's what they used for mounting on my wife's truck (tow hooks).

Linetest, Thanks for the pic's. I like it!!!!! I should update my signature, I removed the brushguard this past summer. The powder coat started coming off because the metal was rusting and I really didn't like the way it looked after it was installed. Since I don't do a lot of 'off roading' I sold it. I even got the guy that bought it, to remove it. But, I really miss having my PIAA's on the front. I ordered a Westin SS Bull bar last may from TruckPerformance.com The order is still pending. At least they never charged my card. Found out this afternoon that WAAG is discontinuing the "Sportster". They are introducing a new bar like the "Sportster" except it also has a full bumper guard on it.... eek..

That's why I just bought mine last week and installed it over the weekend. I do NOT like the look of the new one. Also, I think...my opinion..is that full brushguards are a bit hokey on a 4x2 (which is what I have). I didn't want a guard that took over the whole front end. And the only off roading I do is by accident :-). So, my wife got the Westin Sportster and I got the WAAG.

linetest,

i understand what you're saying about the top of the bar, one of my concerns, too. like you, i didn't want the entire front covered. i hope neither one of us tests these on deer. LOL! good luck, Rich.
