Smile Painted my third brake light cover

I have a billet third brake light cover, and after a while it seemed to stick out like a sore thumb. It looked large because of the polished aluminum. I just got through painting it semi-gloss black, and soon I'll paint the whole window frame to match. What do you guys think? To me, anything will look better than that ugly gray frame,,,,,98

Thumbs up Nice...

Hey, Scream that looks real awesome!! What are you using for paint? How are you applying it?? What did the cover cost?? One last question, when you say gray frame, are you refering to the black plastic frame that often fades to gray?? -Matt

Lookin good....... I know that the cover does stick out, it really doesnt bother me that much on mine, but if I were to paint it it would still stick out w/ a light gray window frame.......ah who knows maybe i'll try it next spring.

The brake light covers run around $40. I just thoroughly wet sanded it with 400 wetordry, and shot it with Krylon "rust tough". I've used that stuff over the years, and it always stands up to the elements pretty good. As for the window frame, mine has always been a medium gray. It matched the bed rails. The newer model trucks have a black textured looking piece. I need to do something with the screws, now. they really show, huh?,,,,,98

The screws don't look bad. But they would probably look better the same color. Maybe you could find some colored anodized screws.

Have you updated your pics on your site yet?

Question

Hey Brian?
Did you grow up in Houston? There was a friend of mine who lived down the street with the same name. I haven't added the newest pics yet. When I tried to do it the other day, the upload page was down. I'll get to it soon,,,,98

Thanks guys, I really appreciate it!! My favorite mods can be be done with little or no money Of course the ones that do cost money leave you broke enough to think up the cheap ones, hehe,,,,98

Soon I'll have the window frame done, plus a couple of other things to post pics of. If I ever sell the truck, it'll be one of those ads that say "Too much to list here"

I've asked this before and can't remember if I ever got an answer or not. How does the frame come off? Are you guys planning to take it off and paint or what? I think I was told you had to pull the whole back window to get the frame off, what pain nin the azz. Thanks
