Dash Kit Advice?
I've read through many of the threads, and would like additional feedback/pictures from anyone with the following kits:
Alka Plus 40pcs $168
Discount Dash 7pcs $208
Dashboards Plus 29pcs $626
I'm looking for the carbon fiber finish, but wonder why Alka is so inexpensive, and why Dashboards Plus is so much more.
Is this a case of "you get what you pay for" and the Dashboards Plus kit is a much superior kit in terms of fit and finish?
One last thing is that Dashboards Plus is in Watertown Wisconsin, 30 miles away so if I was unhappy I could probably show up on their doorstep to complain......
Thanks in advance!

I am not sure about the others, but I purchased the kit from Alka Plus, and I would do anything to get it off!!! The pieces don't fit very well (meaning they don't go all the way to the edges). I followed all of the installation instructions perfectly. Some of the edges are peeling up...I am just gonna save up some money, take the kit off and put a better one on. I think it is a matter of you get what you pay for.
I would also take any recommendations for a good kit that wont break the bank.

i don't have any pics but i did the kit from this place http://www.wooddashfactory.com i think it was about 25 pieces anyways.....i am very pleased with it....everything fit perfect...even over the little sections in the vent.....i think was reasonably priced too.
Another new one! Thanks RR Triton!
Looks like $210 for a 25 piece set for my truck, in looking over their website I'd have to say they are a solid candidate.
Thanks for the feedback!

I got my kit from alkaplus for $160 and luv it. Everything fits great but my only regret is not getting molded pieces to give it that really customized look. Be advised, you're not really getting 40 pieces. It's more like 30 piece with a few add'l pieces like different lamp configuration (e.g. with & without headlights). It still a great kit but if you got the extra dough, I recommend getting a flat dash/molded combo kit. Here are a few pics of my dash.
The major difference between these kits will be if they are made with real or fabricated wood. Essentially, they all adhere with a strong precoated 3m adhesive and an adhesion promoter. If the pieces are applied well and the surfaces are in good condition, you shouldn't have any problems (although sometimes that is not the case). My truck was only a few weeks old when I applied my kit which is ideal because the surfaces are brand new and pristine. Older cars tend to be more difficult because of the wear & tear their dash has already seen. Some install shops will do it for you for a small fee.
Here some links with molded pieces:

(this site actually dips your oem dash pieces in a solution to match a wood kit. a little pricey but great if you want to do a couple of pieces)

(I'll probably get this one)

Good luck!
