Question Illegal Clear Corners

I may just be stupid but I'm confused. Are the clear corners legal or illegal but not strictly inforced??? Or does it depend on where you live?

XLT,

I think I can help out. I beleive what it is is that the clear cornor lights are illegal with clear bulbs in them. You must put a orange bulb in them to be legal. Also the ones I have have a tint of orange on them (not noticable until u turn the lights on, can not see it in the day time) so that i can put clear bulbs in there as opposed to having a big bright orange bulb showing thru in the day and kinda defying the pupose. Like I said this is just what I think, I'm no Po-Po so I dont now. I'm sure someone can clear it up.

XLT,

I got them from a local shop in my area. At the time I got them for right at $92 tax and all. I'm sure there a lil cheaper now. There made by APC. Not sure what that stands for but had no luck locating them on the internet, just a bunch of sites that had there stuff. If your in the Houston, Tx area I'll refer you to the shop where I got them.

Unfortunately I live in NJ(really unfortunate) but thanks for the info. One more thing, did you install the lights and if so was it easy?

Thanks

Yes it is very easy, only one screw. Pop the hood and yull see the screw I'm refering to. Also u might want to take the headlights lose for a lil more play. There are (i beleive) two levers for each head light that u just pull straight up and pop the head light out. Then unscrew corners and push out. Took me about 15 minutes once I figured out what to pull and unscrew. By the way I have a 99'. Not sure what year yours is but I'm assuming it will be basicly the smae way. Good luck.

ILLEGAL CLEAR CORNERS

IN THE CASE OF CLEAR CORNERS BEING ILLEGAL, IN THE STATE OF INDIANA- IF YOU RUN CLEAR OR AMBER BULBS
ONLY ON THE REAR, YOU WILL RECIEVE AN $80.00 FINE. AMBER OR THE FRONT TURNS IS OK. I HAVE A SET ON MY TRUCK WITH RED BULBS FROM NAPA{$6.00} THAT IS A LOT CHEAPER THEN $80.00. GOODLUCK

Here's my 2 cents...

I was recently stopped by the CHP for my tinted front windows. While the kind officer was writing my citation, he infomed me that my tail lights are illegal. Since I have the Ford "L" tails I felt compelled to say "but officer, they are Ford lights!". He explained that it is illegal to replace the "factory" lights with anything other than factory. Although he continued to write the citation for my windows, which I have since re-tinted, he did let me off on the lights. Got the front "L" lights/corners waiting for me at the dealer

Well...I couldn't resiste any longer. I put the clear corners in this weekend. I think they look pretty sharp especially since my truck is all black. Let me know what ya think.

Thumbs up Go with LED's

HZ Engineering has amber LED bulbs that turn perfectly clear when off. That will give a whole new look to your front end. No unsightly orange bulbs in your clear corners.
