Lightning 3rd brake light

Does anybody know if a 01 Lightning 3rd brake light will work on my 98 std cab? I tried to look for the old thread on this but I could not remember where I seen it at. Any feedback would be appreciated.

LEDs & Lightening 3rd Light

Could you please tell us what led lights you used for the brake lights? Are they just plug in and go or are there other mods that need to be made in order to work? Are they really that much better? The 3rd light, you say you have to remove the headliner, alot of work installing this unit or is it not bad really? Also is it that freat or just so. Have been looking at them in pictures but have not seen one on the street. Also front marker leds, smae questions and do they have amber leds? Or do you have to use your stock lenses with the amber built in the plastic? Thanks

I didn't have to do any mods - pull and plug.

Better is a matter of taste here - i prefere the look, and i feel that the white (points into the bed) light is brighter. For the corners, you use the same yellow lights, but the houseing is clear(yellow reflector strip on bottom) and much better looking. The biggest factor is that it's "Stock". HPD has been pretty **** about mods lately since one of those rice burners flipped and went off the elevated highway and then some kid in an integra ran into a van while racing and killed the driver.

If you want just a "truck", save your money.

But then, you wouldn't be reading this if you just wanted a "truck".

The biggest advantage to LEDs over traditional lights (other than looks) is that they light instantaneously while bulbs have a very slight lag while the filament warms to incandesence. You have to be looking really hard to see the difference as it's such a short time, but I've noticed it on some of the vehicles which have factory LED third brake lights. They also use less power than bulbs. I doubt this would make much of a difference in an automotive application, but around here, all the cities are changing traffic signal lights to LEDs because of the infamous "California Energy Crisis".

Installed by Lightning 3rd Brake Light & it looks good. I took the easy way out and cut the wires on the back of the exsisting light and spliced on the Lightening Light due to the fact that everytime I take something apart rarely does it fit back together perfect. Especially plastic snap together car parts and pieces. My only concern is that I twisted and taped the wires as I had no connectors. Since they have no pressure or tension on them I thought that it would be ok but now I am concerned about moisture etc. Any thoughts? Light looks great but I have only seen it on the truck in the garage. Can't wait to get someone to help take it out on the road in the dark to see it. Thanks for any comments as to if I souhle take it apart & reinstall with connectors.
