Talking lightning conversion kit for 97 - 98's

Did anyone out there ever ordered truck accessories from "JBM ACCESSORIES"? Or more specifically ordered a Lightning conversion kit for 97- 98's? There website is www.sporttrucking.com , i've seen there ad in the Sept. 2001 Truckin mag and I just wanted to know if there legit, before I order the kit. The person I talked to quoted me a price of $900 for the actual Ford OE parts : Bumper cover, fog light kit, billet grill, and hardware ready to paint (they claim that everything i need for this conversion is included, except grill shell). Another kit offered was a aftermarket kit for $740 : it comes w/ a aftermarket bumper cover ("stillen-like") and the rest of the goodies. Im just wondering if such a kit exist because this forum has lots of people going through hell trying to figure out what parts is needed and playing phone tag w/ their local Ford dealerships and probably paying the "ford price".

Question

Please don't tell us you're going to make a Lightning wanna-be. There is nothing worse than a poser. Hope that's not what you are planning on doing.

Please man. Yes I have Lightning wheels but I'm not posing that I have a Lightning. I just liked the wheels and bought some. Can't help if they have SVT on the center caps.
If you want to build a Lightning replica that's your business. But you'll only get punked out by those who know what the real deal is. Why don't you just throw some VTEC and TypeR stickers on there while you're at it.

Damn sounds like a cat fight in here. I have to admit at first I wanted the lightning look for my truck but decide not to go that way instead I wanted something different unique.

Just do what makes you happy forget what everyone else says.

Here is the front im putting on my truck. You can also get the air dam with billet in the middle of it also. I already have the billet inserts on both the upper and lower of my truck already. Check it out below.

hahaha "he likes how they look!"

ddaytona your right, but let me see if i can get this also. hmmmmmmmm he says he got the lightning wheels cause... "HE LIKES HOW THEY LOOK" .................................
"L I K E S H O W T H E Y L O O K"(meaning it serves some type of visual appeal to him). Ding Ding Ding gee i think a light bulb went on. Maybe I'll get the coversion kit because......ok.........brace yourself..............."I.....I.....I LIKE HOW THEY LOOK". Lets weigh this out...bumper cover - lightning wheels....bumper - wheels. Gee seems really simular to me. I guess some "people" (no names mentioned) is very very very INTELLIGENT to see the break down. Hope I dont get struck by "Lightning" by the "Ford Lightning God". Oh I may get "punked out" but it won't mean **** when its little snickering behind my back, wouldn't want them to say it to my face or i might have to show them the true meaning of "True 21" Duals". LOL ("Cant we all just get along"LOL) Well enough about me, Hope everyone finds this entertaining like I do. So.....Aloha, Peace, One Love, dont forget to take your vitamins and say your prayers.....and.................G O A G G I E S! LOL

I got my bumper cover from ford parts online too. Ithink with all the brackets, fog lights, the bumper and to paint it, I paid a total of 550.00. I got a friend to paint it so that saved me some money but the bumper had to be shipped freight which cost me like 80.00. Itll probably be more for you since youre gonna need the 99 and up grille shell.

i can't understand why people get so pissed off over things like that. i mean, first of all Lary Jones, you have the L wheels on your truck, and rip him for putting L parts on his. second, why would anybody get upset that someone is trying to make their truck look like somebody else's. it's not like he's replicating your truck. and even for those that have L's, why not just be flattered that people would like to make their truck look like your's. there is no need to get all pissed off about it ladies.

Woah! Take it easy guys. All right, I was wrong for accusing you Mana. I shouldn't have been so hypocritical. Do what makes you happy. Sometimes I just worry too much about what other people think when I should just do what makes me happy.
ALOHA and good luck!

Keep up the good humor

Glad to see you two worked things out.

My two cents..
The lightning is a damm nice looking truck. If not one of the nicest anywhere.

I'm like you Mana... If I like something, I'll do it. Not really caring what others think... well much.

I got the chrome 00 L wheels.. because they look damm good.
I got the 01 L rear lights... Because they look damm good.
same for the clear fronts.

Then I got the stupid idea of test driving one a few months ago.
So I got mine blown too...Because I liked what the lightning could do!

So is my ride a lightning... no! but I wish it was.
Maybe some day when it grows up it can be?

Actually I was right there... choosing between the SCrew...and the L

The practical side of me won out! ( kids..and tool space)

PS: would it be ok to think about getting the front bumper cover??
WHY? "BECAUSE IT LOOKS DAMM GOOD"

LATE....

I put the L front end on my SCrew because Ford does not put fog lights on their trucks unless you buy a 4X4 or buy a Harley. I went as far as putting the L badging on the front fenders because I did not like the F150 badge and because they put holes in the fenders, you have to cover it up with something. And yes, I do have the L wheels, too.

You would not believe the compliments I have received on this truck!! Not to mention the number of challenges from Camaros and Mustangs. However, I know my limits and I don't even try to take them on. The way I see it, I am honoring a damn good looking truck and maybe giving Ford an idea for the future!!! I bought this truck because I needed something that carried more than 2 people (my wife has a delSol), but I really wanted the Lightning. So now I have a little of both.

LightningCrew,
Any pics? Would like to see your truck.
Although I don't agree with replacing your regular badging with Lightning badging, you spend your hard earned money they way you want. That's all that matters. Post some pics man!

I am new to the forum. I have a 1997 F150 supercab with 270,000 miles on my 4.6L I need a new engine, so I am looking to drop a lightning engine and trans in mine. The goal here is to have a little fun. I want to restore my truck to its factory condition except for the engine and trans. A sleeper if you will... Anyway I am sure people would scoff at that as well, but I just don't care. I think it will be fun and either way, I have to buy an engine. 270,000 hard miles, mine is starting to bleed to death!! seal leaks, headgasket leaks, but it still cranks on the first try and runs good.
