A lightning part that is cheaper?

After talking with TampaSVT about his Street Scene Speed Grill on his L I decided that my 2000 XLT had to have one... Well, get this, the grill insert for the 2000 XLT is $140... the insert for the L is $85! What the @&#^? This is the first time I have ever heard of a comparable L part being less than a "regular" F-150 part. I was always under the impression that the regular F-150's and the L's had the same grill surrounds. Can anyone clarify? What is the difference... besides $55 for the grill? LOL

Howdy MisterP...

I got a price for a grill shell for a 2001 "L" of $166.48 from the dealer. And get this: It's color-matched and clear-coated from the factory! But that is the complete grill that goes around the lights and has the 5 gray bars complete.
The part number is IL3Z 8299 ABA.

Are you trying to buy the complete "GRILL SHELL" in a factory color, with the grill insert? What is the part number?

I always like to talk part numbers ... otherwise it's too confusing and you never know what's up...

Post Grille Surround

Hi,
I thought so too until I bought mine and put in on. It is made slightly different in the front and gives a more bolder line outward. I too got mine for around 170 from the dealer. have to pay to play as I was always told.

So, let me get this straight...

The sourrounds you guys bought include the whole surround that surrounds the headlights, turn signals, and also includes the grill in the middle?!

Talking You are Correct!!!

I was told at my local dealers this is the only way to get just the grille. Which is all that I really wanted anyway. But hey, I have a flame red surround and stock 2000 black grille if anyone is interested.
