Let's talk about the bull bars and grille guards for Ford F-150
So, guys, let's talk about the bull bars first. The importance of a bull bar depends on the type of trips you often take. Actually, bull bars have little to do with bulls but they have a lot to do with other animals, specifically deers. 3" Stealth series black powdercoat bull bar by Aries is manufactured to enhance your safety and minimize the damage your Ford F-150 2009-2014 may suffer. Plus, it also may be useful, if you do not want your new bumper to be scratched while parking.

Commercially available bull bars and grille guards are cosmetic. They are not designed to have any structural value, because of collision crumple zones and liabilities. They are all made with thin wall sheet metal, and will bend away in a second if you actually put any real load on them.
For example, when using a front mounted hook and strap for vehicle recovery or rescue.
So on my '03 Screw, I welded up my own bull bar, from schedule 80 steel pipe. Then I could weld in a receiver tube to mount either a hitch, a hook, or a pusher. I kept my hook bolted in there so I could wrap a sling on it and pull people out of snow banks. I even slanted the sides to follow and mirror the grille's shape and profile. Then I put teeth and flood lights for eyes, making it look like an A-10 Warthog. Quite approved by all.
HOLY CRAP sorry guys that image was HUGE. Shoulda shrunk it down a bit, from its original resolution. Geez....
I have the steel pipe (mechanical tubing, really, it's far stronger than pipe) already laying in my garage. Just need spring time and a free afternoon to borrow my friend's welding gear. Here's the sketch up. I made sure to use the new grille's profile to inspire its shape.
