need your opinion on lift style

So I'm looking at giving my truck an "attitude change" by lifting it 2" - 3", looking at the lift kits, they are around $200 - $300 for my truck. I was looking on youtube, and there are videos of people just tightening the torsion bars to get a couple inches of lift. I figure if they didnt come tightened that much, they probably arent supposed to be, but I wanted to run the idea past a few people, do what do you think I should do? buy the kit, or tighten the torsion bar?

Why?

There's no reason to buy aftermarket torsion keys that'll allow you to crank too far and wreck the ball joints, tie rod ends, and cv axles. Especially when you can crank the factory ones, stay in recommended spec, still be able to get alignments, and you don't have to buy nor install the keys. All you have to do is get an alignment after.

To the OP, check your other thread you started in the 97-03 section, it has more answers, I also assume these threads will be merged together soon.

I'm personally just not a fan of cranking the stock torsion keys.
