Rear wheel well inserts?

Honestly, I was thinking more long term like if you pull one in the spring, will there be qa lot of sand stuck behind there. They look great and I usually spray tire shine in my wheel wells when detailing, spraying the plastic would look great. I keep my vehicles for a long time, so I don't want to do anything that will cause problems long term.

So thought I would bring this back up from a year ago.. Did you guys that installed these spray any rust prevention before putting them in? I have been debating on what to put on? Maybe something cover the rear diff as well since that has a lot of surface rust. Maybe por15 or chassis black from eastwood or any other rust preventative coating?? I cant decide.
