Chrome Question Please help!!

I am 100 percent I will be buying a Mark LT. One thing holding me back is the chrome bumpers and cladding on the bottom of the door panels. I know i could buy used bumpers and repaint them. BUT how about the chrome panels on the bottom of the doors. How are these held on? Is there paint under them? Will I be able to simply remove them? please help because I need to buy one in the next few weeks. THANKS!!

What are the things you like that a Mark LT has that an F150 doesn't? Cause it seems you don't like some of the main the things that make it a Mark LT.

I don't know if you can remove that chrome molding, but I've never seen a Mark LT without it. You'll have to check it out up close.

they're held on by 3M double sided adhesive tape....once you start pulling them off you'll have to keep going cause they bend really easily....yes there's paint underneath..

you'll need a heat gun/hair dryer along with some adhesive remover(Klean Strip #AOD-908 or 3m adhesive solvent) and paint safe putty knifes or wood shims....do not use the heat gun and adhesive remover together....use the adhesive remover afterwards...

might want to invest in some polish and wax also...

Ok basically a pretty simple removal. thats what i wanted to hear. I have done a little body work, and this seems pretty simple. I have a machine buffer that ill use after using your recommended 3m adhesive solvent. I think I might go buy this truck this weekend. Thanks.

Doesn't sound too bad! That OEM 3M stuff is a pain, but it does come off. Plastic razor blades and fishing line would be great. A lot of us use the fishing line to remove the fender and tailgate badges after they get started, but it may work on those big panels too. If at all possible, try to remove the 3M in mostly one piece or big pieces. It comes off really cleanly together, but is a mess when you pull it off in little portions.
